
Volleyball hosts Red Raider Classic this weekend

Tech to play its first home matches of the season starting on Thursday night
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team (2-1) will host its annual Red Raider Classic this weekend in the United Supermarkets Arena beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. when Tech faces Northern Arizona (2-1).

Following their match against Northern Arizona, Tech will face Florida Atlantic (3-1) on Friday at 6 p.m. before hosting Green Bay (0-3) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. to close out the tournament.

Historically, the Red Raiders have only played Northern Arizona in its program history and lead the series 3-0 all-time with the last match coming in 1992.

- Tech is coming off a nice 2-1 performance in the Boston College Invitational beating Eastern Kentucky and Iona University 3-0 while dropping its lone match to Boston College. Mia Wesley and Aliyah McDonald took no time getting used to their roles as they made the All-Tournament Team. Wesley led the team with 33 kills and 39 points while McDonald held down the net, recording 21 blocks and 21.5 points.
- Reagan Leinen was as efficient as could be, hitting .500 through seven sets on 14 kills while adding eight blocks.
- Hanna Borer seemed to have found a good connection with her new teammates, recording 70 assists over three matches. Abby Dickinson and Maddie Correa did well to man the backline, finishing the weekend with 35 and 37 digs, respectively.
- Simone Overbeck set new career highs in kills (10) and points (10.5) in the Red Raiders sweep over Iona.
- Emily Merrick was second on the team in kills this past weekend with 18 as Brynn Williams added 13 kills of her own.
