Texas Tech takes on No. 11 Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders play in their second road conference game of the season against the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, January 4 at 1 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum. Kansas State leads the all-time series with a 30-17 record, winning the last two contests.
In 2024, Texas Tech played seven games against ranked opponents - winning one of those against No. 24 Iowa State on Jan. 17, 2024 by a 71-63 score. In addition, head coach Krista Gerlich has picked up a ranked win in each season she's been at the helm of the Lady Raiders. Taking on a Kansas State team ranked as high as No. 11 on Saturday, Texas Tech will be looking to defeat a No. 11-ranked team for the first time in program history.
At Arizona State, two Lady Raiders eclipsed the 1,000-point mark. Going into the game, Bailey Maupin needed three points to hit 1k, and she got just that - nailing a 3-pointer to give her 1,000. Then, Jasmine Shavers needed 15 points in the game to hit 1,000 as she ended the contest with 24 against the Sun Devils. Graduate senior Maya Peat will soon hit this mark as she is three points away now.
The Lady Raiders are forcing 21.20 turnovers per game which ranks 38th in the NCAA and second in the conference. In addition, the Lady Raiders rank 55th nationally with 10.7 steals per game. The Lady Raiders have forced 20+ turnovers in eight games this season so far, and average 18.5 turnÂovers forced per game in conference play. The Lady Raiders currently average 5.5 blocks per game, which ranks 16th nationally and fourth in the Big 12. In addition, junior Sarengbe Sanogo ranks 19th in the nation and fourth in the Big 12 with 28 total blocks.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The No. 11-ranked Kansas State Wildcats are coming into the game with a 14-1 overall record and a 2-0 record in Big 12 play. Their lone loss was to a ranked Duke team by a 73-62 score, while the Wildcats have key wins over Creighton, Texas A&M, Middle Tennessee, Cincinnati and Houston. The Wildcats are averaging 85.3 points per game, which ranks 11th in the nation. K-State's 43.8 rebounds per game is ranked 15th nationally while the team's 22.9 assists per game, 51.0 percent field goal percentage, 31.4 percent field goal percentage defense and 35.1 scoring margin all rank atop the NCAA. There are five Wildcats who average double-figure scoring this season – Ayoka Lee (17.2), Serena Sundell (12.5), Temira Poindexter (12.2), Jaelyn Glenn (10.5) and Taryn Sides (10.5). Lee leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game while Sundrell leads the nation with 108 total assists this season.
