Tech heads to the ITA Texas Regional Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas – This week, the Red Raiders hit the road to College Station, Texas to compete in the ITA Texas Regional Championships for five days of competition with some of the state's best players. Competing for the Red Raiders in this tournament are Niksa Arsic, Thiago Guglieri, Felipe Pagnacco, Ludovico Vaccari and Thomas Van Den Dooren.

This marks Van Den Dooren's third tournament with Tech after strong performances in the UNF Hidden Duals and the Waco Fall Tennis Classic. In Jacksonville, Van Den Dooren went undefeated in singles against players from Barry, UNF and Tennessee. Two of those victories came in hard-fought three-set matches, where he ultimately defeated his opponents.

Tied with Van Den Dooren for most singles wins this fall is Pagnacco with four. Pagnacco's strong start includes singles wins over opponents from Baylor, UTSA, Barry and Mercer. Vaccari has also impressed this fall, remaining undefeated in singles during the Waco Fall Classic, where he posted straight-set wins over players from SMU, Rice and Texas A&M.

The dynamic duo of Arsic and Guglieri have hit the court again this season as a pair dominating their competition with an impressive four wins already this season. In the UNF Hidden Duals tournament, Arsic and Guglieri defeated No. 80-ranked Enrique Pena and Andreas Scott of North Florida, 6-4.

The Red Raiders begin their tournament on Oct. 17 with qualifying singles and continue through the week ending on Oct. 21.
