
Tech heads to Kansas for match at Wichita State

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Kansas to take on the Wichita State Shockers on Friday, February 7 at 1 p.m. at Genesis Rock Road. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series with Wichita State with a perfect 12-0 record. The two teams last played on January 20, 2024 with Tech winning it by a 5-2 score.
Texas Tech (3-3) is coming off a split doubleheader where they swept UTRGV, 7-0, before falling in a hard-fought match to New Mexico State, 2-4. In dual singles, both Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri lead the team with four wins apiece, with most of Arsic's wins coming from court two and most of Guglieri's coming from court four.
In dual doubles, the duo of Piotr Pawlak and Sebastian Abboud are having a great season together again. The pair lead the way with a 5-1 dual record, all coming at the top court, highlighted by a ranked win against California on January 25.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Wichita State Shockers are 2-3 to start the season, getting wins over Omaha (6-1) and Drake (7-0). Their three losses were against UCF (1-6), South Florida (2-5) and Arkansas (3-4). In dual singles, the Shockers are led by three players who all total three wins each – Vanja Hodzic, Alejandro Jacome and Kristof Minarik. Minarik is a perfect 3-0 at court two, while Hodzic has two wins at the top court and Jacome has three wins at line three. In dual doubles, the pairing of Minarik and Jacome are 5-0 at court one to lead the team.
