March 18, 2025 | Men's Golf
PAUMA VALLEY, Calif. – Led by a Top 15 finish by freshman Connor Graham, the Texas Tech men's golf team claimed seventh at the Pauma Valley Invitational on Tuesday. Graham fired a final round 1-under-par 70, which tied him for 13th, and aided the Red Raiders to a final round even-par 284.Â
Before Tuesday's final round started at 10 a.m. PDT, teams had to resume their respective second rounds at 7:30 a.m. PDT as time did not allow teams to finish before darkness fell on Pauma Valley Country Club on Monday. The Red Raiders wrapped up the second round with a 6-over-par 290 after a 5-under-par 279 in the first round the day before. Tech was in the sixth place at the end of the second round.
In addition to Graham's under-par finish at 3-under 210 (71-69-70), Calum Scott used his blistering opening round of 7-under-par 64 to steer him to a 54-hole 2-under-par 211. Scott joined Graham in the top 20 with a tie for 17th place – his top finish this season thus far – following a 5-over 76 and a final-round even-par 71. Meanwhile, Graham claimed his third straight top-15 finish, with the Cabo Collegiate last time out being his season-best finish (t-11th).
Tim Wiedemeyer bounced back after a slow start. He finished his second round with an even-par 71 before a final round 1-under-par 70. He opened with a 4-over-par 75 that ultimately placed him tied for 33rd. Wiedemeyer made the most significant jump of all the Red Raiders in the final round, improving by 12 positions.Â
Texas Tech will now make a trip across the country as it will travel from the Pauma Valley Invitational in Southern California to the eastern seaboard for the Valspar Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted in Palm City, Florida at the Floridan Golf Club. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, March 24 before the final round on Tuesday, March 25.
