The Red Raiders drop the final game, but take their opening Big 12 series
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 15 Texas Tech dropped the third and final game of its series against No. 13 Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field. The Red Raiders (20-7, 2-1) fell 10-1 in five innings against the Cowgirls (16-6, 1-2) but still finished winners of the series after taking the doubleheader on Friday.
Tech got out to rough start as they let four runs score in the first inning – three of which were unearned – giving Oklahoma State all the momentum. The Cowgirls fed off that momentum the rest of the day, adding runs in the second and third innings before putting up another four runs in the fifth inning to put the finishing touches on their win.
Alexa Langeliers launched a solo home run in the fourth inning, but Tech didn't have much else going for them in the series finale.
Despite the disappointing end, Tech's series win over Oklahoma State marks the first time since 2016 that they have taken the series against the Cowgirls – who were projected to finish first in the Big 12.
UP NEXT: Tech will be back on the road as they travel to Baylor for a three-game series.
