Corky Classic
Named after Tech legend Corky Oglesby, the "Corky Classic" recognizes Oglesby's nearly 50 years of service to the university, including 20 (1975-1995) spent as the head men's track and field coach. His list of successful athletes included 32 All-Americans, 11 Southwest Conference outdoor champions and seven SWC indoor individual champions.
After stepping down as the head track coach in 1995, Oglesby remained active in the sport as he attended top events throughout the world each year as either a spectator or as a meet official. He later transitioned to a special projects coordinator in the Red Raider Club, a position he remained active in up until his passing in November of 2017. The inaugural Corky Classic would start the following season.
What to Watch For
This weekend's field will consist of 22 teams, including eight Power 4 teams – Texas A&M, Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Purdue, SMU, TCU and Texas.
One of the more anticipated debuts this weekend will be Bowerman Watchlist honoree Jonathan Seremes. A transfer from Missouri, Seremes won the 2025 NCAA Indoor triple jump title – he did not compete during the outdoor season. Over on the women's side, the 2025 NCAA Indoor high jump champion Temitope Adeshina will look to compete Saturday.
On the sprints side, a newcomer to watch for on the men's is freshman hurdler Daniel Clarke. He is the Jamaican U20 National Champion in the 110m hurdles (39 inches, 12.96) as he'll look to compete for the first time indoors in the 60m hurdles. Ruta Lasmane, who is coming off an achilles injury that ended her 2025 season, will take this weekend off and look to make her debut next weekend.
