Red Raiders fall to the Huskers

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders battled to the end before ultimately falling to the undefeated Nebraska Huskers, 4-3, in their first home match of the weekend.

Nebraska (5-0) claimed the opening point by winning two of three doubles matches against Tech (1-2). The Huskers opened the match on court two with a victory over Sebastian Abboud and Thomas Van Den Dooren. Texas Tech then earned a 6-4 victory on court one from Thiago Guglieri and Niksa Arsic, but Nebraska responded with a win on court three to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

In singles, Texas Tech picked up three victories, beginning with a straight-set win from Arsic at court one, where he defeated Nikolay Sysoev, 6-3, 6-2, before Nebraska Husker Luke Wells took down Van Den Dooren on court four, 6-3, 6-2. Abboud responded with a point at court five after a tiebreaker win in the first set and a decisive second set, 7-6 (5), 6-2,

Guglieri followed with a hard-fought victory at court six after winning in a set two tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6 (5). To clinch the match, the Huskers defeated Ludovico Vaccari on court two, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 7-5, and Felipe Pagnacco on court three, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
