Red Raiders hit the road for California

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders will travel to Santa Barbara, Calif., this weekend for a pair of nonconference matches, beginning with UNCW on Friday at 2 p.m. CT before facing No. 30 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.

Texas Tech (8-4) enters the weekend after a dominant performance at home, sweeping Oral Roberts in a doubleheader at the McLeod Tennis Center. The Red Raiders secured two 4-0 victories and did not drop a single set across the two matches. Tech opened the first contest against Oral Roberts by claiming the doubles point before earning straight-set singles wins from Thiago Guglieri, Thomas Van Den Dooren and Felipe Pagnacco.

In the second match, the Red Raiders once again jumped ahead with strong doubles play, highlighted by a 6-0 win from Niksa Arsic and Tyler Stewart. Pagnacco and Van Den Dooren each added singles victories before Bautista Leguizamon secured the match with a straight-set win, marking his first career singles victory for Texas Tech.

Texas Tech will open the weekend against UNCW on Friday, who is currently 2-6 for the season with all of their losses coming when away from home. This will be the first meeting between the Red Raiders and the Seahawks. The Red Raiders will close the weekend against No. 30 UC Santa Barbara (9-5) on Saturday. The Gauchos hold a 6-4 all-time record against the Red Raiders, with the last Texas Tech win coming in the 2015 season beating UC Santa Barbara in Lubbock, 4-2.
