Red Raiders take down the Seahawks in California

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 72 Texas Tech Red Raiders opened their weekend in California with a win over the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Friday afternoon by a come-from-behind, 4-3 score.
Texas Tech (9-4) started doubles with a win on court one as Niksa Arsic and Sebastian Abboud took down the UNCW (2-7) duo Brady Hussey and Alex de Gabriele, 6-2. Shortly after, both remaining Red Raider duos fell on courts two and three in tiebreaker sets to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead headed into singles.
In singles play, the Red Raiders started out strong with back-to-back wins by Arsic and Felipe Pagnacco. Arsic began singles with a win over Lukas Steffen with decisive sets, 6-3, 6-4, on court one. Pagnacco quickly followed on court four over Seahawk de Gabriele in two sets, 6-4, 6-2, to give the Red Raiders their first lead of the match.
Thiago Guglieri took down UNCW Hussey, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3, on court five to give the Red Raiders a 3-1 advantage. Tyler Stewart fell to Oscar Baumgartner, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, on court three, and then Ludovico Vaccari was defeated at court two by Jordi Domench, 3-6, 7-5, 4-6, to tie up the match. Clinching the match for the Red Raiders was Abboud who went into a third-set battle with Alexander Thompson, winning it, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, to give the Red Raiders a 4-3 victory.
Up next, the Texas Tech Red Raiders battle the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday.
