"It's a big game Wednesday," Beard said. "It's the next game on the schedule as always is our approach. Texas is not only a really good team that's well-coached, but they're playing great basketball right now. You always hesitate as a coach to talk about somebody else's team. Shaka and I are friends, but I will tell you that I think they are the most talented team in the Big 12. They're young, and they have overcome a lot of adversity with Andrew Jones and some injuries and stuff like that to Roach III. Player-to-player on their roster, they've got really good players. At least four guys are going to play in the NBA. If Mohamed Bamba isn't the best player in college basketball then he's part of that conversation. Everybody in Lubbock should buy a ticket and come see him play on Wednesday because you won't see him again in Lubbock. They have our full attention because they are a good team. They obviously beat us the first time we played them this season, and we just have a lot respect for the talent they have on their roster."

ABOUT TEXAS TECH

Keenan Evans has exploded for 17.7 points, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The 17.7 points per game are second on the Big 12 leaderboard. Evans tucked away his third Big 12 Player of the Week award, the most for a Texas Tech player since Andre Emmett won the award five times in 2003-04. He piled up 31 points, the second-highest output of his career, at South Carolina. Evans took the game over with 10 points in the closing 3:38 and 18 points over the game's last 10 minutes. He heads into Wednesday's action with 1,310 career points which is 22nd on the program's all-time list.

Smith has managed double figures in 13 of his last 16 outings. He turned in 11 points, seven rebounds and matched a season's best three blocks at South Carolina.

"I like Tommy Hamilton IV, that's my guy," Beard said. "Sometimes, there is not always a relationship between what that stat sheet says and what's really going on. He came here and transformed his body. We are playing a different style of play than he has ever played. He's really bought in and had some huge games for us. We don't beat South Carolina if it wasn't for Tommy's play. He's an interesting person too. Unless you know Tommy, you might have a different perception when you see him. He's a very unselfish guy. He's got a big heart, and he really wants to win. Sometimes it looks like Tommy is down, but he's down on himself more than anything. I hope we can get Tommy to continue going in the right direction, and he ends up having a great year for us this year. He's just an unselfish guy. I think he really is helping Malik, and I think he's helping Norense. They have both helped him too. Big picture is that I love Tommy Hamilton IV and I've got a lot of confidence in him, I think he's really going to help us in the second half of conference play."

He's a guy that makes plays for them on both ends of the floor. I think he is one of the best players in the Big 12. That statement speaks for itself."
