AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball wrapped up the first half of Big 12 play with a tough 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-21) loss at No. 8 Texas Saturday inside a sold-out Gregory Gym in Austin, Texas.

Micaya White and Yaazie Bedart-Ghani led the Longhorns (12-4, 7-1), who hit a season-best .438 in the match. White compiled 17 kills at a .654 clip, while Bedart-Ghani recorded a career-high 16 kills on a .520 hitting percentage.

The Red Raiders (15-7, 4-4) were led by senior Katy Keenan, who had 12 kills on 20 attacks for a .500 hitting percentage. It marked her fourth double-digit performance in Big 12 play and the most kills in a three-set match for the season. Defensively, she and two blocks and two digs.

The Red Raiders hit .210 in the match with senior Missy Owens tallying 32 assists and Tech's lone service ace in the match. After sitting out the opening set, junior Chandler Atwood chipped in eight kills on 20 swings and added two blocks.

After a tough opening set, Tech jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the second frame. Tech held a 9-8 advantage before the Longhorns used a 13-4 run to go up 21-13. In the third set, Tech stayed within striking distance late in the frame off the play of Keenan, who had back-to-back kills to make it 20-17.

The .438 hitting percentage for Texas was a Big 12 high for this season and a season-worst for Tech. The victory is Texas's 35th straight over Tech. The Longhorns now hold an 85-9-2 lead in the series all-time.
