LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team returns to tournament play Monday morning when the Red Raiders tee off at the Dickson Invitational held at The Woodlands Country Club outside of Houston.
Â
The Red Raiders, who are No. 44 in the latest Golfstat poll, will be one of eight schools ranked among the top-50 nationally when play begins with 36 holes Monday morning. The tournament concludes with a final 18 holes Tuesday.
Â
No. 16 Kent State is the high-ranked school in the 17-team field followed by host and 21st-ranked Houston. The two-day event also features No. 23 Iowa State, No. 25 Purdue, No. 32 Florida State, No. 36 Texas A&M, No. 47 Clemson as well as fellow Big 12 counterpart TCU.
Â
This will be the Red Raiders' second visit to the Houston area already this year as Tech previously finished third at the season-opening Jim West Challenge. It was the first of three top-six finishes already this season for Tech.
Â
Head coach JoJo Robertson will utilize the same lineup for the second-straight tournament as she will send seniors Lauren Mason and Gabby Barker out with junior Mami Yamamoto and freshmen Amy Taylor and Louisa Brunt.
Â
Of that lineup, Mason currently boasts the lowest stroke average this year as she is averaging 73.5 swings per round, which is slightly better than the marks for both Yamamoto (73.7) and Barker (73.8). Brunt, meanwhile, is currently averaging 76.6 strokes per round.
Â
Taylor will be playing in her second collegiate tournament after making her debut a few weeks ago at the UCF Challenge. She tied for 53rd at the tournament following an even-par final round that pushed Tech to a 11th-place showing.
Â
Tech will be paired with Kent State and UTSA during Monday's opening round, which begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Live coverage will be provided both days on www.Golfstat.com.
