Caleb Richmond Wins 400m Hurdles at UTSA Invite

Red Raiders have 19 Top-3 Finishes on Day Two in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After two days of competition, the Texas Tech men's track and field team finished third overall with 131 points while the women's team finished second with 150 points at the UTSA Invitational.

Combined, the Red Raiders had 19 top-3 finishes in the meet.

Junior Caleb Richmond captured the 400m hurdles title with a time of 53.49.

Dorian Williams started his senior season with a second place finish in the 110 hurdles with a personal best time of 13.99.

Freshman Sean Hooper recorded his first 800m time during the outdoor season as he placed second with a 1:54.96 mark. Grant LaSelle came in fourth with a time of 1:56.74.

Norman Grimes set a new personal record with a 21.50 mark in the 200m to take second place.

The day concluded with the Red Raiders placing second in the men's 4x400m relay. Darien Tennon, Norman Grimes, Josiah Macinnis and Caleb Richmond recorded a time of 3:18.09.

Texas Tech scored 23 points in the men's long jump with all five competitors scoring. Junior Odaine Lewis took the top spot with his mark of 7.52m (24-8.25). Sophomore Justin Hall followed in third place with a leap of 7.42m (24-4.25).

Freshmen Kameron Washington, Dalton Rigdon and Clark Griffith recorded their first outdoor marks of their collegiate careers. Washington placed fifth with a leap of 6.98m (22-10.75) while Rigdon finished seventh with a mark of 6.85m (22-5.75). Griffith rounded out the event with his 6.80m (22-3.75) leap.

Junior Eric Kicinski added to his top finishes on the weekend as he took second place in the men's discus with a mark of 55.03m (180-6).

Freshman Hunter Wigington cleared a collegiate best 5.07m (16-7.50) as he took third place in the pole vault. Teammate Hunter Carlton finished in fourth after clearing 4.97m (16-3.50).

On the women's side, freshman Seasons Usual captured a second place finish in the discus with a throw of 53.08m (174.1) Happiness Okeke followed in third with her mark of 51.63m (169-4).

In the long jump, sophomore Zuliat Alli took second with a personal best leap of 6.09m (19-11.75) followed by teammate Ivy Walker who jumped a collegiate best 5.98m (19-7.50), good for third place.

Four women's athletes took second in their events including junior Sara Limp who finished second in the 400m with a time of 53.57. Maygen Smith finished second in the 800m run with a time of 2:19.00.

In the 400m hurdles, Kirsten Johnson ran a personal best time of 1:00.04 to finish second while Faith Roberson came in third with a 1:02.84 personal best time.

Daja Gordon also finished second in the 200m dash with her collegiate best time of 23.30 with teammate Tiffani Johnson at her heals to take third with a mark of 23.42.

The women's 4x100m team of Sara Limp, Kaylor Harris, Tiffani Johnson and Daja Gordon finished fifth with a time of 51.16.

The 4x400m relay team of Taylor Rockwell, Kirsten Johnson, Jadsia Warden and Faith Roberson finished second with a time of 3:43.58.
