LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lady Raider basketball team hits the road for the first time this season as it travels to San Diego, Calif., for the San Diego Thanksgiving Tournament.

Texas Tech will open action at the event against Purdue Fort Wayne at 6:30 p.m. CT Friday, and wrap up against either Monmouth or San Diego at 4 or 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.

ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
The Lady Raiders enter this weekend's tournament looking to build on its first 3-0 start in the Coach Marlene Stollings era. Texas Tech, who executed the Power 5's second-biggest turnaround in the country last season, brings a high-powered offense--averaging the fifth-most points per game of anyone in the country--with it to the West coast led by four starters averaging double figures through three games.

Texas Tech's roster is fronted by three star returners in the national block leader Brittany Brewer, point guard Chrislyn Carr who ranks second nationally in assists and two-way guard Sydney Goodson. The Lady Raider lineup is bolstered by an outstanding cast of newcomers including junior college transfer guard Jo'Nah Johnson and freshman standout Alexis Tucker, both of which have already found their way into the Tech starting five.

EYEING THE OPPONENT
The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons (3-4) enter Friday's matchup with Texas Tech coming off an 82-55 home win over Heidelberg last Sunday, following a loss to Southeast Missouri. The Mastodons have been successful at creating steals this season, ranking 25th nationally in takeaways. IPFW is led in scoring by Hannah Albrecht at 14.1 points per game, and anchored by senior Sh'toya Sanders, who has a pair of double-doubles on the season and ranks 17th nationally in rebounds. The Mastodons are led by fourth-year head coach Niecee Nelson.

TEXAS TECH STORYLINES
- The Lady Raiders and Mastodons will be meeting for only the second time in the two programs' histories this Friday.Texas Tech won the only previous matchup, 72-51, in 2007.

- With a win on Friday, the Lady Raiders would begin the season 4-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 season and the 13th time in program history.

- Brittany Brewer has impressed thus far into the 2019-20 season, putting up absurd averages of 19.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 6.67 blocks. She is the only player in the country averaging over 19 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks per game.

- Sophomore Chrislyn Carr's 8.7 assists per game not only lead the Big 12 by two-and-a-half assists per game, but rank second in the country only behind Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu. Additionally, Carr and Ionescu are the only two players in the nation averaging over eight assists per game.

- Two Lady Raiders will be making homecomings this weekend in California. Freshmen Alexis Tucker (Hawthorne) and Nailah Dillard (Sacramento) both came to Lubbock from the Golden State.
