DEFINE YOURSELF: Red Raider Basketball
July 25, 2019 | Men's Basketball
Davide Moretti: "I think I got better from the first day we got back from the Virginia game. I'm not missing a day of working out on the court or in the gym. I'm just trying to get better. I made a big jump from my freshman to sophomore season and I want to do an even bigger jump this year. There has been a big change in me since I got here from Italy. I'm more mature and as time has gone by I'm getting less homesick. The first year here I really missed everything about home. I still miss my family, but this is where I belong right now. I'm becoming the best version of myself every day. I'm a leader here now. I learned from Keenan Evans and Justin Gray in my freshman year and from Norense and all of our seniors last year. They taught me what leadership is and how to become a better person and player. It's a big step for me to become a leader, but I'm ready for it. I love to be in the gym. Coach calls me a gym rat. I love to play basketball and be in the gym with my teammates. Basketball is everything to me."Davide Moretti is back.

TJ Holyfield: "I'm hard-working and play with energy. I give energy to my teammates and try to be active on the floor at all times. I talk a lot and really believe in communication. I'm going to represent the program with class and how our coaches want us to represent it. Player development is the main reason I came to Texas Tech. I'm going to rebound the ball and dominate the paint. Our coaches are helping me develop my shot, helping me work on my left hand and my all-around game. We're putting on weight and I'm preparing to play at the Big 12 level with a Big 12 body. I'm becoming more consistent and building good habits that will help me in the games. I'm a fun guy who values that part of my personality. I want to lift people up and that begins by me not being a dud. That's important to me. As a freshman you come in not really knowing your role, but as a grad transfer I'm more mature and will be ready to play and represent this program like the coaches want us to. I have a voice and a presence on and off the court. I'm ready be influential."Meet TJ Holyfield.

Chris Clarke: "I going to bring leadership and do it all. I feel like I'm a player who can do a lot for the team and help us win. I'm tough, I want to play defense and I want to contribute to the culture that has already been built here. I'm a loving and caring person who is intelligent. We're going to make you proud."Meet Chris Clarke.

Avery Benson: "I try to be the hardest worker on the floor every time I'm out there. I'm a nitty-gritty player who never takes a second off. I'm willing to do anything to win. I've changed a lot over the past three years here at Tech. Mentally and physically, I'm completely different. I was at 165 pounds when I got here and am now at 205 on a good day. There's been a big increase in my game that I'm proud of. I'm an easy-going guy who likes to hang out with friends and have fun. I've been here there past two years through a lot of team success. That can only help me and I want to be a guy that helps our new players understand what it took for us to achieve what we have so far. There is a conversation about our long term goals of winning the Big 12 and making it all the way, but there are steps you have to take to get there. You have to be ready every day to achieve common goals that you work towards. I'm bringing the dog back and all the energy I can manufacture. I'm going to help my team get back to where we want to go."Avery Benson is back.

Kyler Edwards: "I'm a team player and can score at all three levels. I pride myself on playing great defense and always working hard for my team. I'm outgoing and am working on my leadership skills. I learned a lot from the guys last year. They taught me about leadership. From Norense, Tariq and everyone else on our team last year, I learned what being a leader is. All the seniors showed us how to do it. We learned from them and now it's our time to lead."Kyler Edwards is back.

Andrei Savrasov: "I'm going to hit shots and fight every day. I'm working to develop myself physically and mentally. Our coaches have really helped me to focus on what I need to become. I'm becoming stronger, running faster and jumping higher. I'm a calm guy and enjoy spending my free time at home. Coming from Russia has changed me a lot. I have a lot of opportunities here to help me develop as a player and a student and person. That's why I came here. To be the best version of myself."Meet Andrei Savrasov ????

Joel Ntambwe: "I define myself as a leader and someone who never gives up on plays. I bring energy to the table and always play hard. I'm a winner. I want to become someone who will help youth basketball where I'm from. I'm a fun person off the court. I'm outgoing and try to help anyone I can. There are people who aren't as fortunate as I am and I want to be a person who helps them. Coming here as a transfer helped with my adjustment. I had already experienced moving to a new school and meeting new people. I'm more mature as a person and in my game. It makes me want to work harder because I'm excited about this new chance I have here."Meet Joel Ntambwe.

Kevin McCullar: "I feel like I'm a versatile guard who can dribble, pass, shoot, rebound and defend. I can make plays for others and myself. I'm a player who is going to execute the game plan. I'm a big family person. I wouldn't be where I'm at without them. I can be kind of a goofy kid and like to be playful. Last year was big for me. Graduating early and getting to go on the Final Four run was amazing. It was a great experience and I'm looking forward to using all of it to become the player I know I can be."Meet Kevin McCullar.

Clarence Nadolny: "I'm a high-energy guy who always brings it to the court. I have good athleticism and will try to lead the team behind guys like Davide and Kyler. I'm learning from them right now to be ready to do what the coaches and the team needs me to do. My goal this year is to learn and become a better player. I'm going to bring it every day, show my passion and make big plays for my teammates."Meet Clarence Nadolny.

He's ready to leave it all on the floor.

Jahmi'us Ramsey: "First and foremost, I'm a winner. I like to take parts from Russell Westbrook and John Wall to combine those two into my game. That's how I see myself as a player. I have a good shot, which I'm going to have to prove this year. I love to play defense and get downhill to finish at the basket and create for others. I need to make the open shot and I'm working on getting better at my reads on pick-and-rolls. I'm good at chase-down-blocks and am getting better at playing at two speeds. I'm a genuine guy who is pretty laid back. I'm independent and calm until I have to be otherwise. I feel like the attention I got in high school has helped me open up. I'm more friendly to kids than I used to be because I'm used to taking photos and interacting with them. Going through the process of getting a lot of attention at camps and other places forced me to become more social and open to people."Meet Jahmi'us Ramsey.

Terrence Shannon, Jr.: "I feel like I'm a good defender and am still working to get my shot up. I plan on being the best defender in the Big 12. You'll see high-flying plays and my passion on the floor. I want to be a knock-down shooter. I can handle the ball, but still have improvements to make. I want to be a great teammate and get them involved. I'm a team player and can finish at the basket. I feel like the game is starting to slow down for me and I'm seeing the game differently since I got here. I'm just trying to get better day-by-day. I feel like I'm funny, but serious when I need to be. I'm always trying have a little smile to cheer everyone up."Meet Terrence Shannon, Jr.

Russel Tchewa: "I'm going to bring toughness and protect the rim. I'm going to always give my best and fight to get rebounds every time to help my teammates. I listen to the coach and work every day. I never give up. Sometimes it is difficult, but I want to be better. This is a good place for me. I'm going to smile all the time because life is not too long. We have to enjoy every single day. That's who I am."Meet Russel Tchewa.

Tyreek Smith: "I just want to be that guy when I get on the floor that everyone knows I'm going to bring the most energy and be the best competitor. Since I've got here and been working out it can't help but to expand my game. From dribbling to defense, I've gotten better already. Coach Adams is the king of defense, so my shot blocking is getting better too. I just see my game developing in all aspects. I think I can be kind of funny as a person and am outgoing. I can talk to anybody and hold a conversation about a lot of things. I'd say I'm a pretty cool dude."Meet Tyreek Smith.
