Sooners Blank Red Raiders in Series Finale

The top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners defeated Texas Tech 20-0 in five innings Sunday.
NORMAN, Okla. – Texas Tech (18-23, 2-13 Big 12) was defeated by No. 1 Oklahoma (37-1, 12-0 Big 12) in run-rule fashion on Sunday afternoon in Norman to wrap up the series.
The 20-0 loss was the largest margin of defeat in series history and the most runs allowed by Tech since giving up 19 to the Sooners in 2018.
The Sooners got on board in the bottom of the first when Jocelyn Alo sent her nation-leading 24th home run just over the glove of Heaven Burton at the wall for a two-run shot.
Missy Zoch kept the Oklahoma bats under control for a couple of innings, blanking the Sooners in the second and third frames, but the top-ranked offense in the nation busted things open in the fourth with an 18-run inning.
The Sooners 18-run fourth frame came off 14 hits, with five extra base hits including a pair of home runs to give Oklahoma the 20-0 lead.
Tech tallied three hits in the contest with singles from Burton, Yvonne Whaley and Alanna Barraza.
Zoch (9-11) went 3.1 innings for Tech giving up six runs on five hits with one strikeout. Erin Edmoundson, Kamryn Caldwell and Morgan Hornback each pitched in the fourth inning combining for 14 runs, only five of which were earned, off 11 hits.
G Juarez (14-0) pitched 4.0 innings for the Sooners giving up just two hits while striking out five. Shannon Saile pitched the final frame giving up one hit and striking out one batter to preserve the Oklahoma shutout.
