In The Polls
History was made in the second week installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll released Monday afternoon. Both Red Raider programs were ranked No. 4 as it was the first time both sides have received the same ranking in the same week. It also marked the first time that each of the Top 4 men's and women's teams in the USTFCCCA D-I poll are the same.
On The Look Out
The throws crew on the women's side will be well represented as six Red Raiders are set to compete, highlighted by Seasons Usual and Kayli Johnson. Usual owns the number one mark in the NCAA discus at 59.49m (195-2), while Johnson owns the second-best shot put mark at 17.62m (57-9.75).
Gabe Oladipo made a huge leap in the rankings last week in the discus going from 26th to 10th in the nation with a throw of 58.94m (193-4). Colton Naffziger spearheads one of two male pole vaulters this weekend. He's third in the Big 12 and 23rd in the NCAA this outdoor season with a height of 5.28m (17-3.75).
Up Next
Texas Tech is back in action next weekend as some Red Raiders – distance and jumps – will be going to California for the Mt. Sac Relays (Apr. 13-16). Meanwhile, Tech sprinter and throwers will be in Florida for the Tom Jones Memorial (Apr. 15-16).
