Andrews broke the near 13-year old record in his third meet as a Red Raider

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up its busy day across the country, highlighted by the second-annual Jarvis Scott Friday evening inside the Sports Performance Center.

Tech was represented in Albuquerque, N.M. and Nashville, Tenn., tonight.

The 19-year old freshman from the Bahamas, Antoine Andrews broke a nearly 13-year old record held by Omo Osaghae (7.60) as he ran a blistering 7.59 in the 60m hurdles final for the win. That run by Andrews puts him at No. 2 in the country, right in front of his teammate Caleb Dean who last week posted a 7.61. Leading up to tonight the 2022 U20 world champion in the 110m hurdles, had only run the 60m hurdles three times.

The women's weight throw was the first event down in the book in Lubbock as Malin Smith and Field Gatlin finished third and fourth, respectively, each securing a new personal best (PB) mark. Smith's toss went 18.75m (61-6 ¼) while Gatlin's landed at 18.32m (60-1 ¼).

Over on the men's side, Jacob Mechler led the pack coming in first with Konner Wood finishing second. Mechler launched it 21.04m (69- ½) and Wood followed him up with a toss of 19.29m (63- 3 ½). Both marks were recorded on their first throws and went down as new PBs.

Four Red Raiders placed in the top-8 of the women's 800m - all PB times - led by Fanny Arendt clocking in at 2:11.12. Emma Bock finished third (2:14.90), Torrye Tyler sixth (2:15.90) and Adele Clarke eighth (2:17.04).

Naomi Krebs made her collegiate debut with a run into the 60m hurdles final, placing second overall at 8.57. Her best time of the day was her semis run (8.50).

Demisha Roswell - a hurdles specialist - continued to lower her PB 60m time, running a 7.24 to claim the finals. Courtney Lindsey ran a season-best 6.61 to take second in the 60m final.

Taylor Limbaugh capped off the night in Lubbock running a PB in the 5000 (18:16.80).

Meanwhile, in Nashville, Halena Rahmaan smashed her PB time in the mile by just over 10 seconds, clocking in at 4:45.87.

Texas Tech caps off its weekend tomorrow at home beginning with the women's shot put at 10:00 a.m. The action in Albuquerque starts at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Nashville for Tech.
