
Red Raiders conclude Wes Kittley Invite

Tech completes its first outdoor meet of the 2023 season
ABILENE, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team capped off the two-day Wes Kittley Invitational hosted by ACU at Elmer Gray Stadium Saturday evening.
Wade Garrett kicked off his 2023 season for in the men's javelin. He placed second as his first throw went down as his best at 58.40m (191-7). Following the javelin, Sarah Tackitt opened her season taking the women's pole vault with a height of 3.83m (12-6 ¾).
Konner Wood and Chris Samaniego highlighted the men's throws portion. Wood finished first with a PB by more than seven feet in the hammer throw at 57.18m (187-7). Samaniego finished third with a mark of 56.99m (187-0).
On the women's throws side, Field Gatlin and Baylee Thompson each recorded outdoor best marks in the shot put. Gatlin went 15.67m (51-5) for first and Thompson placed third at 13.87m (45-6 ¼).
Magi Harris highlighted the sprints side for Tech as she ran her first collegiate 400 hurdles, clocking in at 1:02.31.
Logan Fraley led the men's pole vault as he tied for first with a height of 5.28m (17-3 ¾).
