Historically, Tech put up some of the best times at the annual Michael Johnson meet
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team concludes its four-weekend long stretch on the road competing in Waco at the Michael Johnson Invitational at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium Friday through Saturday.
Last Time Out
Tech was split across three different time zones as groups were represented in California, Florida, and Oklahoma. Over in Florida, TTU saw two school records go down in the 400m hurdles, thank to Caleb Dean and Sylvia Schulz. Dean posted a time of 48.47, while Schulz clocked in at 57.04.
In the 100m, Terrence Jones crossed the end line at 9.91 for the world and NCAA lead. For his efforts, he was named the Big 12 Athlete of the Week on Wednesday and earlier Thursday afternoon, he was named to The Bowerman Watchlist.
Rankings
The Texas Tech men's track and field team jumped to No. 2 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings released Monday afternoon. Last week, Tech was ranked No.4.
On The Lookout
A large group of hurdlers and sprinters represent the Red Raiders this weekend. Dean is set to debut in the 110 hurdles, while Antoine Andrews and Taylor Rooney look to lower their season marks.
Already running the 100m three times this season, Rosemary Chukwuma will debut in the 200m Friday evening. Michaela Lewis makes the trip as part of four Red Raiders on the women's side set to go. Last season at this meet, Lewis ran a 2:05.61, which gave her the No. 10 all-time mark for Tech in the event.
