
Tech takes on Jim Click Shootout in Tucson

Saturday marks the first time this outdoor season TTU competes only one day
TUCSON, Ariz.– Texas Tech track & field embarks on its second of four-week road stretch as the squad competes in the Jim Click Shootout hosted by the Arizona, Saturday afternoon at Drachman Stadium.
A large contingent of the Tech throws and pole vault groups will be strongly represented Saturday. The discus crew kicks off the meet beginning at 5 pm CT.
Last Time Out
TTU is coming off a four-day stretch of competition at the Texas Relays. Some of the highlights included the men's DMR team of Kirk Zuber, Shaemar Uter, Marco Vilca and Edward Rush winning the title with a time of 9:41.07.
On the final day of competition, Zach Bradford broke the Tech pole vault outdoor record on his fifth height, ultimately finishing at 5.86m (19-2 ¾), a share of the world lead. Meanwhile, Terrence Jones and Courtney Lindsey jumped into the top-3 of the world standings in the 200m. Jones came away with the title at 20.05 (2.0), while Lindsey took third overall (second collegiately) with a time of 20.11 (0.6).
For his efforts, Jones was named the Big 12 Athlete of the Week, Wednesday afternoon.
Rankings
The Tech men moved to No. 4 in the second installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings released Monday afternoon. They moved up three spots in the rankings.
On The Lookout
Malin Smith and Devin Roberson will look to bump up their marks in the discus. Smith is currently No. 8 in the country at 57.17m (187-7), while Roberson sits 14th at 59.13m (194-0). Over on the shot put side, Field Gatlin and Baylee Thompson represent the women's group. Both have notched outdoor PB this season already.
World leader in the pole vault, Bradford will compete this weekend loking to bump that mark up a bit. A big group of Wes Kittley's middle distance group will be well represented as well in Emma Bock, Michaela Lewis, and on the men's side, Alfred Chawonza.
