Red Raiders in Austin for Texas Relays week

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team travels to Austin this week for the 96th annual Texas Relays taking place Thursday through Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Last Time Out
The Red Raiders hosted the Masked Rider Open last weekend for its second week of competition outdoors. Following the two-day meet, the Red Raiders, who have yet to debut a full squad, jumped into the week one top-25 USTFCCCA rankings.
The men this week were slotted No. 10, while the women were dubbed No. 16.
In The Know
This week a few Red Raiders from the NCAA indoor squad will make their outdoor debuts, including three gold medalists in Terrence Jones, Caleb Dean and Ruta Lasmane.
Jones is entered in the 200m and 4x100, Dean, primarily a 400m hurdler, will only run the 110 hurdles this week and on the 4x400. Lasmane is only entered in the triple jump. Jones last year won the Texas Relays 200m Invitational section running a time of 20.05.
Texas Relays is a unique meet for the Red Raiders as it's the only time of the year they compete in events such as the 4x200, the 4x800, and the sprint medley relay (100m, 100m, 200m, 400m).
