Red Raiders conclude day one of Texas Relays

Juliet Cherubet shined in the 1500m with a top-5 time in the country
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up day one of the 96th annual Texas Relays Thursday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
One of the first few events to begin was the men's hammer throw as Konner Wood represented Tech in the first flight, ultimately placing 9th with a SB throw of 61.97m (203-3). A few hours later, Kashlee Dickinson paced the Red Raiders finishing tied for sixth in the women's pole vault clearing 4.25m (13-11 ¼).
Midway through the afternoon, Oskar Edlund punched his ticket to the 400m hurdles final Friday evening as he ran the fastest time in the field at 50.56.
Ernest Cheruiyot capped off the night running a 5000m time of 13:38.28 for a new meet record and now the No. 4 all-time mark for Tech. The Big 12 indoor champion in the 5000m last month (13:42.08), tonight was his first time running the event outdoors.
