Stokmans earns top 15 at Illini Women’s Invitational
October 07, 2025 | Women's Golf
MEDINAH, Ill. — Texas Tech women's golf senior Danique Stokmans fired a final round 3-under-par 69 at Medinah Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, helping her finish the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah in a tie-for-11th among 85 golfers. Stokmans finished the event shooting a 54-hole career-low 5-under-par (211) while the 11th-place tie matched her career-best finish, set last spring.
Stokmans, participating as an individual in the team event, got hot early in carding three birdies in her first eight holes, including back-to-back birdies across holes No. 2 and No. 3. Despite a double bogey and another dropped shot, she finished strong with a birdie on the par-3 15th hole, followed by an eagle at the 519-yard, par-5, 16th hole. The 69, her second career round carded in the 60s, pushed Stokmans nine spots up the leaderboard to collect her second top-15 finish this season.
Senior Lauren Zaretsky found success on her first nine holes on Tuesday, recording three birdies to two dropped shots. However, two bogeys on her back nine left her with an over-par finish with a 73 (+1), dropping her down the leaderboard 11 spots and into a tie-for-28th at 2-under-par (214).
Similar to Zaretsky, sophomore Denisa Vodickova couldn't capitalize on her solid 4-under-par start through 36 holes. Five bogeys on her opening nine holes to only two birdies ended in a 3-over-par 75 in the final round and a 1-under-par (215) finish that left her in a tie for 31st after concluding the first round in a tie for first place.
Junior Maja Ambroziak joined Vodickova on the leaderboard, also tied for 31st, as Ambroziak could not continue the momentum of her second round (69), where she carded one of the Red Raiders' three rounds in the 60s this week. Despite four bogeys on the day, Ambroziak holed two birdies in her final four holes en route to a final round 1-over-par 73 and a 1-under (215) finish overall.
As a team, the Red Raiders shared a tie-for-9th at 1-over-par (865) alongside Charleston and Minnesota. UCF won the team competition at 32-under-par by an 18-shot margin over SMU.
UCF's Mila Jurine fired a final round of 6-under-par 66 with two eagles to defeat 36-hole leader Balma Davalos, of Auburn, by three shots.
Texas Tech has one fall event remaining on its schedule, set for Oct. 19-20, in San Marcos, Texas, at the Jim West Challenge.
