Lady Raiders travel to Fort Worth

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders head to Fort Worth, Texas for a game against the No.9-ranked TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday, February 8 at 4 p.m. in Schollmaier Arena. Texas Tech leads the all-time series with the Horned Frogs, 49-16. However, the Frogs are on a two-game win streak and defeated the Lady Raiders in their first meeting this year on January 11 by a 69-43 score.
In Texas Tech's last game against Utah, the Lady Raiders (14-11, 3-9 Big 12) went 9-for-17 from behind the arc for a season high of 52.6 percent from the three. Their nine 3-pointers made was the third most this season, while their 52.6 percent was the first time since December 30, 2023 against Houston that the team shot over 50 percent from three. Texas Tech came into the game against Utah shooting 29.3 percent from the arc, but raised their percentage to an even 30 percent. Lady Raiders Jasmine Shavers (37), Bailey Maupin (31) and Adlee Blacklock (31) surpassed the 30-made threes mark so far this season. Denae Fritz is just behind with 26.
Fritz has been finding her groove over the last few games in conference play. Since the Iowa State game on January 14, Fritz is the third leading scorer behind teammates Jasmine Shavers and Bailey Maupin with 7.9 points per game. In the past seven games, Fritz is shooting 38.5 percent from three (15-for-39) and tallied two games with double-figure scoring. Her 15 3-pointers over this time also leads the Lady Raiders. In Tech's last game against Utah, Fritz dominated from the arc, going 4-for-5 from three and recorded 12 points against the Utes. Fritz also leads with 17 steals in these seven games, allying six-straight games with two or more steals dating back to January 18.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The No. 9-ranked TCU Horned Frogs are 21-3 on the season and 9-2 in Big 12 play. TCU's three losses came against No. 3 South Carolina, 52-85), Oklahoma State, 59-60, and No. 12 Kansas State, 50-59. Before their loss to the Wildcats, TCU was on a two-game win streak against Iowa State, 82-69, and against No. 25 Baylor, 80-75. As a team, the Horned Frogs are scoring 79.7 points per game while only allowing opponents to score 57.5 points per game. Shooting 47.4 percent from the field, TCU averages 39.0 rebounds per game, 19.2 assists per game and 5.9 blocks per game. Their 5.9 blocks per game ranks fifth in the nation, while their 19.2 assists per game ranks eighth. TCU is led in scoring by three players – Hailey Van Lith (18.4), Sedona Prince (18.2) and Madison Conner (15.3). Prince leads the team with 9.0 rebounds per game and with 72 total blocks, ranking third in the country in blocks.
