No. 21 Lady Raiders host Iowa State on Wednesday

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 21 Texas Tech Lady Raiders host the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. Iowa State leads the all-time series against the Lady Raiders, 30-16, winning seven of the last eight meetings. Last season on Jan. 14, 2025, the Cyclones defeated Tech by a 71-58 score. The Lady Raiders last won against Iowa State on Jan. 24, 2024 in Lubbock, 71-63.
The Lady Raiders (20-2, 7-2 Big 12) reached 20 wins on the season with a victory at Utah last Saturday. This marks the second-fastest time to have 20 wins in a season since 1977-78. During that year, the Lady Raiders went 35-11 and got to 20 wins by Jan. 23, 1977. In program history, the Lady Raiders now have 28 seasons (out of 51) with 20+ wins, with the last coming in 2022-23. This is also only the fifth time since 2010-11 that Tech has had 20 or more wins in a season.
Senior Snudda Collins had herself a career-night at Utah. In the game, Collins posted career-highs in points (28), field goals (9) and threes (6), leading the team in all three categories. She shot 60 percent from the field (9-for-15) and was almost perfect from behind the arc at 6-for-7 shooting (.857). Collins also led the team in points at BYU with 17 on 41.7 percent shooting from the field (5-for-12), while tallying a team-best two made 3-pointers. Collins remains the only player in the country averaging at least 15.0 points per game and coming off the bench in every game for her team. She ranks second on the team in points per game (15.0), free throws (69) and in threes made (34), while leading the Lady Raiders with 113 field goals made.
Texas Tech has won 10 games this season by at least 25 points while holding their opponent to a 35.0 field goal percentage or lower. That is tied for third most in DI (Minnesota, Texas, UConn) behind South Carolina (12) and LSU (11). The Lady Raiders' 19.2 scoring margin is good for 22nd in the nation and fifth in the Big 12. Tech has outscored opponents by at least 20 points 12 times so far, while also outscoring seven teams by 30+ points this year.
The Lady Raiders are one of the best teams in the country on defense. Tech ranks 11th in the nation and second in the Big 12, holding teams to 54.8 points per game. The Lady Raiders are holding teams to 25.4 percent from behind the arc as well as 34.1 percent from the field to rank 10th and eighth nationally in those respective categories. The Lady Raiders' 5.8 blocks per game is good for 11th nationally, while they are forcing 20.32 turnovers per game to check in at third in the Big 12.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Iowa State Cyclones are 16-5 overall and 4-5 in Big 12 play so far. While the Cyclones lost five of their last seven games, they are on a two-game winning streak after beating Arizona and Cincinnati. Their five-consecutive losses were to Oklahoma State, Colorado, West Virginia, Cincinnati and Baylor. Iowa State is averaging 84.7 points per game and holding opponents to 64.0 points per game. Shooting 49.7 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from behind the arc, the Cyclones are also averaging 21.2 assists per game and 38.0 rebounds per game. There are three Cyclones averaging double-figure scoring on the season in Audi Crooks (26.3), Jada Williams (13.9) and Addy Brown (13.1). on the rebounding side, Brown leads with 9.0 per game, followed by Crooks with 7.2.
