A three-year varsity letterwinner at Bishop Kelley High School for head coach Scott Ellis... as a senior went 1-2 with 50 strikeouts on the mound and batted .400 with four home runs and 40 RBI... earned all-district... named Nike Pro-Nine Most Valuable Player... as a junior batted .392 while leading the team in doubles... recorded a .578 batting average in the state tournament while leading the team to the 5A State Tournament championship... team ranked 20th in the nation according to Perfect Game... 2011 Perfect Game Underclassmen All-America... received the Burkburnett BlackSox 2009 and 2010 Gold Glove Award... pitched a no-hitter in the Perfect Game South Qualifier (10/3/11) for the Houston Banditos against the Texas Sun Devils... honorable mention All-Metro in 2011... member of the Midwest National Team Identification Series Team USA in 2011. Joseph Andrew Zurawik... born February 15, 1994, in Tulsa, Okla... son of Jack and Elisa Zurawik... has an older sister, Alexandra... father, Jack, played baseball (pitcher) at St. Mary's (1977-78) and University of Wisconsin-Parkside (1979-81), uncle, Chet Zurawik, played baseball (catcher) and football (quarterback) at Army (1963-65), uncle Dave Zurawik, played baseball (first base) at Northern Illinois (1968-70)... all three (father, two uncles) were either drafted or offered professional contracts following their collegiate careers... an exercise and sport science major at Texas Tech.
