SOPHOMORE SEASON (2018-19)
Culver was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and a Consensus All-America in a sophomore season where he led the Red Raiders with 18.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game… He scored a career-high with 31 points in the regular-season finale at Iowa State to help lead Tech to the program’s first Big 12 Conference regular-season championship where he was 12-for-19 from the field with four 3-pointers… Culver scored in double figures in 37 of 38 games, went for 20 or more in 13 games and also had 30 points in a win over Abilene Christian… He led the Red Raiders with five double-doubles and had a career-high 16 rebounds in a home win over Iowa State… His double-doubles included Oklahoma (23/13), ISU (20/16), Oklahoma State (19/10), West Virginia (26/10) and in the second round of the NCAA tournament against Buffalo where he went for 16 points and 10 rebounds… Culver finished his second season with the Red Raiders shooting 46.1 percent from the field and made 49 3-pointers… He scored his 30 points against ACU by going 12-for-13 from the field with two 3-pointers and followed it by scoring 25 points with six rebounds in the New York showcase against Duke in Madison Square Garden… Against the Blue Devils, Culver shined by drilling four 3-pointers and also had four assists and two steals… In conference play, Culver averaged 17.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game where he shot 44.6 percent from the field and led the team with 68 made free throws… He went off for 26 points in the home win over Kansas and had the double-double against WVU in the conference tournament with his 26 points and 10 rebounds… He had a career-high seven assists in wins over Northern Kentucky and TCU and would finish the season with 23 games with four or more assists… He led Tech with five assists in the national championship game where he also had 15 points and nine rebounds against Virginia… Defensively, Culver had 57 steals for the season including five in games against Kansas State, TCU and West Virginia… During the NCAA tournament, he averaged 18.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and led the Red Raiders with 25 assists in the six games… Following his sophomore season, Culver now has scored 1,119 points and has 327 rebounds, 209 assists, 98 steals and 48 blocked shots through 75 games played… He is the first Red Raider in program history to surpass the 1,000-point milestone as a freshman-sophomore and is currently 27th on the all-time scoring list.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2017-18)
Culver came away with 11.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game … Appeared in all 37 games and broke into starting five in 19 of the last 19 games (Jan. 20-March 25) … His 415 total points were second in program history for a freshman … The 11.2 PPG were third on the team and sixth among Big 12 freshmen … Secured double figures in 20 games which was third on the team … Texas Tech was 13-7 when Culver scored 10 or more points … Amassed three of his four 20-plus point performances versus Big 12 opponents … Teamed with Zhaire Smith to average 22.5 PPG, third among Big 12 freshmen duos in 2017-18 … Connected on a team-leading 55 three-pointers and his 38.2 three-point percentage was 15th in the Big 12 rankings … His 177 rebounds, 41 steals and 27 blocks were second on the team … First career points came on a layup from Davide Moretti against South Alabama (Nov. 10) at the 9:09 mark of the second half … Pumped in a nonconference season’s best 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting versus Wofford (Nov. 22) … Chipped in 18 points and a season-high seven assists against Savannah State (Nov. 25) … Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week (Nov. 27) … Knocked down a season-best five treys en route to 17 points versus Seton Hall (Nov. 30) at Under Armour Reunion … Registered eight points, a season-high six steals and five rebounds against Rice (Dec. 16) … Upped his averages to 12.7 PPG, 5.1 RPG and 1.9 APG during Big 12 play … His 229 points were a program record in Big 12 games for a freshmen eclipsing the previous mark of 223 points set by Martin Zeno in 2004-05 … Tucked away 13 points against No. 22 Baylor (Dec. 29) in Big 12 debut … Tallied 12 points at No. 10 Kansas and punctuated Texas Tech’s 85-73 win with a two-handed dunk in the closing 30 seconds … Notched 16 points and nine rebounds at Texas (Jan. 17) … Exploded for 25 points aided by four triples and grabbed eight rebounds versus Oklahoma State (Jan. 23) … Provided 20 points, four assists and a season-high three blocks at TCU (Feb. 3) … Turned in a balanced 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals at Kansas State (Feb. 10) … Fired in 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting against No. 8 Kansas (Feb. 24) … Garnered first career double-double sparked by season-highs of 26 points and 12 rebounds at No. 20 West Virginia (Feb. 26) … Notched 13 points and 11 rebounds versus Texas (March 8) in debut at the Big 12 Championships … Averaged 7.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG and 1.8 APG during Texas Tech’s four NCAA Tournament games (March 15-25) … Amassed 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists against No. 23 Florida (March 17) as Texas Tech punched the program’s first NCAA Sweet 16 trip since 2004-05 … Managed 11 points versus No. 2 Villanova (March 25) in NCAA Elite 8.
