SENIOR SEASON (2018-19)
Owens established a new Texas Tech single-season record with 92 blocked shots, set a new single-game record with eight blocks against Memphis and finished his senior season with the sixth most blocks in the nation and was 13th nationally at 2.42 blocks per game… A graduate transfer, Owens averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game… He had a season-high 18 points in an early-season win over Southern Cal after going 7-for-10 from the field in Kansas City, had three double-doubles that included 12 points and 10 rebounds at Kansas, 13 rebounds and 12 points at TCU and 13 points and 11 rebounds in that eight-block performance against Memphis in Miami.. Owens had five double-digit rebound performances with a career-high 14 in the regular-season finale at Iowa State that helped lead the Red Raiders to the program’s first Big 12 Conference regular-season championship… He would also grab 10 rebounds and contributed seven points in the Sweet 16 win over Michigan and then scored nine points in the Elite Eight victory over Gonzaga where he also had seven rebounds… Owens had a blocked shot in 37 of 38 games in his senior season including 17 games with three or more blocks… In the NCAA Tournament, Owens averaged 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds and also led the team with 14 blocked shots in the six games… Owens led the team throughout the season by shooting 61.1 percent from the field and with 2.1 offensive rebounds per game… A grad transfer who started his career at Tennessee before two seasons at St. John’s, Owens completed his collegiate career with 270 blocked shots.
