Ty Nurse is the lone senior on the squad. He led the Red Raiders in five statistical categories last season. Prior to Texas Tech, he led Midland College to the NJCAA national title game and Canada to a seventh place finish at the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championships.
JUNIOR (2011-12)
Played in all 30 games, starting 24 times for Texas Tech as a junior ... scored 29 points in his Red Raider debut, a record in the Big 12 era ... second on the team in scoring ... hit 13 straight free throws earlier this season and added another streak of 27 straight ... connected on 55 of 61 from the line on the season (90.2%) ... ranked fourth nationally in free throw percentage but did not qualify among the national leaders (must have 2.5 makes per game) ... scored in double figures 13 times ... had at least three assists seven times and had a career-best seven assists against Oklahoma ... averaged 10 points, 2.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds over the last six games of the season ... led the team in minutes (30.2 per game), 3-pointers attempted (121), 3-pointers made (47), 3-point percentage (38.8) and free throw percentage (90.2). was second on the squad in assists (57) and steals (23) ... named to the Big 12 Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll for the spring semester.
PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH
Averaged 9.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists, while shooting 82 percent from the free throw line for Midland College during the 2010-11 season ... earned an All-Conference and All-Region honors after leading the Midland College Chaps (31-4) to the NJCAA national title game ... named to the all-tournament team at the national tournament ... as a freshman in 2009-10, Nurse averaged 5.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game ... was 63-7 in two seasons as the Chaps[apos] point guard ... competed for the Canadian Junior National Team, placing seventh at the 2009 U19 World Championships in New Zealand ... also won a bronze medal with Canada at the 2009 FIBA world qualifier in Argentina ... led Canada to the 2009 Douai World Tournament title in Northern France ... rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com ... ranked the No. 27 junior college player in the nation by JUCORecruiting.com ... was also recruited by Creighton, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Houston and Illinois-Chicago.
