No. 28 Men's Tennis Takes on Northwestern

The Red Raiders return to the McLeod Tennis Center for the first time since March 4.
LUBBOCK, Texas – After a 10-day hiatus, the No. 28 Texas Tech men's tennis team returns to action with a home match against Northwestern on Wednesday.
First serve is on-tap for 5 p.m. CT from the McLeod Tennis Center with free admission to all home matches.
The Red Raiders (16-5) have won both of their matches versus Big 10 opponents this season. Texas Tech defeated Indiana by a 5-2 margin on Feb. 17 followed by a 4-2 victory over then No. 42 Iowa on March 12 in San Diego.
"We're excited to get back out and compete tomorrow night," Texas Tech head coach Brett Masi said. "Not only because we've been off for over a week but also being our first night match in quite some time. Northwestern is a hard working team, and we need to be ready for a tough test. We've got Big 12 play starting next week, and I want to see us heading into conference strong."
Texas Tech posted a 3-1 record during its spring break trip to California highlighted by a third place finish at the San Diego Mission Valley Spring Classic. The Red Raiders will look to avenge a 5-2 setback at then No. 16 Northwestern from last season.
Alex Sendegeya has won his last four outings to improve his dual match record to 8-7. He provided all three clinching points with a trio of three-set victories over opponents from Iowa, Arizona and No. 44 San Diego.
Ilgiz Valiev has dialed up a 15-5 singles record and has produced a 9-4 mark at the No. 4 singles position. Matheus Liete and Connor Curry has registered 11 and 10 victories, respectively.
Texas Tech has won the doubles point in 15 of its 21 matches. Sendegeya and Jackson Cobb has won two of their last three decisions.
The Wildcats (6-9) have lost five of their nine decisions to ITA Top 25 opponents. Antonioni Fasano is ranked at No. 115 during his freshman campaign, while Ben Vandixhorn and Dominik Stary check in at No. 56 in the doubles ratings. The duo has won seven matches at the top spot.
