ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
Coming off a tight loss to Kansas State last weekend, the Lady Raiders look to get back on track in Austin. Led by five players averaging double-figure scoring, Texas Tech is 12-2 heading into the third game of conference play, which marks the team's best 14-game start in eight seasons.
Â
Senior Brittany Brewer leads Texas Tech, not only the national leader in blocks with 74 so far this season, but also the team leader in scoring (15.9 ppg) and rebounding (10.5 rpg). Reigning Big 12 Freshman of the Year Chrislyn Carr has been big for Tech as well in her sophomore season, having scored double digits in 11 of her last 12 appearances. UConn transfer Lexi Gordon has been a nice addition through seven games, tallying off a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double at TCU last week. Big 12 Freshman of the Week Alexis Tucker has been one of the best freshmen in the country this season, ranking second in the Big 12 in scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg).
Â
EYEING THE OPPONENT
The Longhorns (9-6, 1-2 Big 12) come into Wednesday's game against the Lady Raiders coming off a 68-63 loss at No. 19 West Virginia last weekend. The Longhorns have a pair of ranked wins this season over then-No. 1 Stanford and No. 17 Tennessee. Texas leads the nation with 19 double-doubles this season. Sophomore center Charli Collier (13.6p, 10.4r) and senior forward Joyner Holmes (14p, 9.4r) each have nine double-doubles, which is tied for seventh nationally. Texas is led by eighth-year head coach Karen Aston.

LADY RAIDER STORYLINES
- The Lady Raiders are 2-0 in their two true road games this season, picking up clutch wins over San Diego and TCU in games playing in front of hostile crowds. The 2-0 start in true road games--meaning playing on the road against a team playing in their home arena--marks the best true road start for a Lady Raider team in eight seasons.
Â
- Against K-State, Jo'Nah Johnson recorded 11 assists. Johnson is the second Lady Raider to post double-digit assists in a game this season with Chrislyn Carr's 12 against Northwestern State (11/22/19) being the most. Those marks rank Nos. 1 and 2 in the Big 12 this season.
Â
- Freshman Alexis Tucker is one of the top performing freshmen in the country, and was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week this week for the second time this season. Tucker's 61.1 percent mark on field goals this season also ranks 11th nationally and first in the Big 12.
Â
- Texas Tech has no shortage of options when it comes to scoring the ball, as shown by five Lady Raiders averaging double figures this season. In fact, Tech is one of three schools in the Big 12 with five or more players averaging double-figure scoring, with the other two being Baylor and Kansas.
