
Red Raiders Complete Weekend Sweep in Mississippi

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team wrapped up their weekend with a pair of wins against No. 20 Mississippi State and Mississippi Valley State on Sunday.
The Red Raiders are now 6-3 on the season, including a 2-0 mark in true road matches and are riding a three-match win streak.
In their match against the Bulldogs, Tech stormed back after surrendering the doubles point to grab four of five six singles matches.
Tech was propelled by stellar performances from their seniors, starting with a 6-3, 6-4 victory by Bjorn Thomson on court six, his team-leading fifth of the season.
Thomson was quickly followed with a three-set effort from Parker Wynn, who racked up his second-consecutive ranked win and third of the season with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory over No. 27 Oradini of Mississippi State. The win was the highest-ranked triumph for Wynn this season and represents his third win of the year at the No. 1 spot.
The Bulldogs took their second and final match point of the afternoon on court two, as No. 61 Broska took down No. 62 Ilgiz Valiev by a 6-4, 7-6(2) margin.
Sophomore Franco Ribero gave the Red Raiders their third point with a 6-4, 7-5 decision on court five. Ribero moved to 4-0 in dual matches on the year with the afternoon win.
The fourth and decisive match point was provided Reed Collier on court three, as the freshman from Seabrook, Texas battled back to the tune of a 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-4 match-clinching effort.
Tech's win over Mississippi State trimmed the Bulldogs' series lead to 5-3 all-time improved the Red Raiders to 2-0 in Starkville.
In the evening match against the Delta Devils, the Red Raiders played a shortened match due to rain in the area. Isaac Arevalo, Francisco Vittar, Ribero, Thomson and Connor Johnson all took their matches 6-0, 6-0. Court six was won by Jackson Cobb by default. Doubles were not played.

The Red Raiders will take a short break before returning to action at the annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Alabama on February 21st and 22nd. Draws for the tournament will be announced at a later date.
