
Men’s tennis travels to Dallas for two matches

Tech will face No. 12 Texas A&M Tuesday and LSU on Thursday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's tennis program heads to Dallas for a pair of matches against No. 12 Texas A&M and LSU. First serve for the matchup against the Aggies is set for 2 p.m. from the T Bar M Racquet Club while Thursday's clash with LSU will begin at 1 p.m. from Lakewood Country Club.
The two neutral site matches will close a stretch of six matches in a 13-day span. Tech opened the busy stretch in Salt Lake City with a pair of matches against LMU (Feb. 5) and Utah (Feb. 6). The Red Raiders finally returned home last Friday for a doubleheader against Louisiana and LSU.

Returning home for the first time since Jan. 13 and battling the gusty conditions, Texas Tech split a doubleheader on Friday. After falling to Louisiana in match one, Tech rebounded for a tidy 6-1 victory over New Mexico State. Junior Franco Ribero had a strong day for the Red Raiders, as the native of Argentina went 2-0 in singles action, winning a pair of 6-3 sets against Louisiana before cruising to a three and zero victory on court four against New Mexico State. Other standouts including freshman Olle Wallin who was a perfect 2-0 on the day. Wallin won a first set tiebreaker against the Aggies before cruising to a 6-1 victory in set two. Wallin also was up a set in the opener against the Ragin' Cajuns before play was halted.
SCOUTING TAMU:
The Texas A&M Aggies enter Tuesday's match at a perfect 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 12 in the country. A&M earned a their fifth victory of the season back on Saturday when they overcame dropping the doubles point to hold on for a 4-3 victory at South Florida. Texas A&M has won 20 of 25 singles points this season, and are 9-4 in doubles action. Led by Matthis Ross, three different Aggies are ranked inside the ITA Top-125. Ross is 8-7 overall this season with three of his seven losses occurring against ranked opponents. No. 105 Guido Marson has been strong TAMU, having gone 4-0 in singles matches this season (3-0 at No. 3). Texas A&M hosted the ITA Kickoff Weekend and advanced to the Indoor Championships this weekend by virtue of a pair of victories over then ranked No. 23 UCLA and No. 12 Arizona. TAMU lost just one total point in the two matches, and will play in the ITA Sweet 16 this weekend.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
LSU enters Thursday's matchup at 5-1 overall. Winners of three straight the Tigers are coming off a 4-0 sweep overt Nicholls State on Sunday. Led by Gabriel Diaz Freire who is 5-0 this spring, the Tigers are a combined 19-6 in singles action in 2022. In doubles action the Tigers are 10-4. The duo of Kent Hunter and Boris Kozlov have been a force in double action. Hunter and Kozlov are 5-0 this season when playing together. LSU's lone loss was at South Carolina in the opening round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend back on Jan. 29.
UP NEXT:
The Red Raiders return home to the McLeod Tennis Center next weekend when Denver and Tulsa visit for a pair of matches. First serve against DU is set for 1 p.m. next Saturday (Feb. 26) with the Tulsa match set for a Noon start next Sunday (Feb. 2).
