Red Raiders head to Denver

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders continue their spring season at Denver University to compete against the Pioneers on Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. CT. Â

Texas Tech opened its season with a 5-2 victory over Southern Miss last week at the McLeod Tennis Center, taking the doubles point with wins from Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri over No. 46 ranked Eric Perkowski and Saheb Sodhi, 6-1, and from Ludovico Vaccari and Thomas Van Den Dooren, 6-3.

In singles, the Red Raiders built an early lead with straight-set wins by Guglieri and Sebastian Abboud, before Felipe Pagnacco clinched the match with a three-set victory. After the clinch, Van Den Dooren added another singles win, while Arsic fell in a tight third-set tiebreaker, rounding out a strong opening performance from Texas Tech.

Texas Tech has won all four meetings against the Pioneers since 2012, with their last match coming in January 2022 as Tech swept it by a 4-0 score. The last time the Red Raiders headed to Denver was March 2013, which ended in a 6-1 win. Denver is entering the 2026 season after finishing last year ranked No. 59 in the country and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for a 10th time in program history. The Pioneers have three upperclassmen returning this season along with two sophomores. Joining the roster for the Pioneers this season is two true freshmen.
