PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH
Attended Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee prior to arriving in Lubbock … his freshman year he batted .348 and hit 11 HRs, 44 RBIs, 51 runs and 8 stolen bases … he was awarded First Team All-Conference TCCAA honors at the end of his freshman year … also awarded to Preseason JUCO Southeast All-Region Team before his sophomore season … his sophomore year which was cut short due to COVID-19, he batted .349 and added 4 HRs, 16 RBIs and 30 runs … chose Tech over North Carolina and Kentucky.
RANDALL K. COOPER HIGH SCHOOL
Played for coach Brian Bush at Randall K. Cooper High School in Florence, Kentucky where he was the number one third basemen in Kentucky coming out of the 2018 class … was also ranked as the 69th third basemen in the country and the 16th player in the state … was awarded to 2017 and 2018 Perfect Game Underclassmen All-American Teams and Perfect Game Preseason All-American and All-Region Teams respectively … played summer ball for the Midland Redskins under coach Bart Hammack.

Born in Florence, Kentucky … son to Angela Runion and Chris Mitchell … brother to Landon and Brinkli Runion and Camden, Maya and Harrison Mitchell … A/B Honor Roll all four years of high school … A Honor Roll sophomore year of JUCO … uncle, Tony Runion, pitched at Duke University and then got drafted in the 58th round of the 1993 MLB Amateur Draft to the Cleveland Indians before playing 15 years in the minor leagues … his other uncle, Mike Mitchell, played football at Ohio University then got drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft to the Oakland Raiders, he also played for the Panthers, Steelers and currently on the Colts … majoring in University Studies.
