2022 SEASON (SOPHOMORE)
Key backup at cornerback as a sophomore, his final season as a Red Raider … recipient of the coveted No. 3 jersey prior to his season by head coach Joey McGuire for resembling all the qualities of “The Brand” … appeared in all 12 games either in the secondary or on special teams … made 12 tackles overall (9 solo) to go along with two pass breakups … opponents only caught 53.8 of the passes targeted at him (7-of-13), which ranked as the third-lowest clip on the team among defensive players with at least 10 targets … credited with playing in 137 snaps defensively by Pro Football Focus and an additional 127 snaps on special teams … member of the kick return and punt coverage units throughout the season … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: recorded one tackle in each of Texas Tech’s first two games of the season against Murray State (9/3) and Houston (9/10) … also broke up the first of two passes on the year in the season opener versus the Racers … had similar one-tackle performances during Big 12 play against West Virginia (10/22) and at TCU (11/5) … previously closed non-conference play with two stops at N.C. Darrian “Kobee” Minor ... son of Darryl and Zsa Zsa Minor ... youngest of eight siblings ... his father graduated and played football for Oregon State University, while his mother graduated from Grayson College … his father went on to play running back for the Washington Commanders in the 1980’s … brother, Darryl, was a linebacker on the Red Raider football team in 2019 after transferring from Abilene Christian ... is a University Studies major at Texas Tech.
