Returned to form as one of the premier place kickers in the country … took over kickoff duties as a senior in addition to his role on field goals and extra points … combined for 106 points after connecting on 17-of-19 field goal attempts and all 55 extra points … his 17 field goals marked the most by a Red Raider in a season since Ryan Bustin in 2013 … marked the second time in his career to not miss an extra point in a season (2017) … was a perfect 7-of-7 on field goal attempts from 40 yards or longer … recorded a touchback in 48 of his 87 kickoffs on the year … averaged 59.1 yards per boot on kickoffs ... IN THE TEXAS TECH CAREER RECORD BOOK: closed his career as a Red Raider tied with Ryan Bustin for the all-time record with 50 career field goals … snapped Bustin’s previous school record for field goal percentage after connecting on 50-of-59 attempts overall (.847) … ranked second on the career PAT list with 195 over four years … finished third on the all-time scoring chart with 345 points, trailing only Taurean Henderson and Alex Trilica … matched his own school record with 11-consecutive successful field goals late in the season ... Dealt with nagging injuries that kept him off the field for most of junior campaign … appeared in six games total on the season, the fewest of his career … ended the year 6-of-10 on field goal attempts and a perfect 22-of-22 on extra-point tries … also kicked off one time for 64 yards … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS … made season debut in second game of the year against Arizona State (9/16) … connected on all five PATs in the first half before nagging injury sent him back to the sidelines … did not return until month of November against Kansas State (11/4) … was a perfect 5-of-5 on PAT tries against the Wildcats but missed a 31-yard field goal in the fourth quarter … miss marked his first from inside 40 yards in his career and ended a school record streak of 11-consecutive successful field goals … rebounded to connect on a successful 39-yard attempt against Baylor (11/11) as well as all five PAT tries … added a 22-yard field goal on Texas Tech’s opening drive against TCU (11/18) … made two key field goals in the win over Texas (11/24) with successful tries from 32 and 34 yards … lone miss of the Texas game came from 47 yards … was a perfect 2-of-2 on field goals in the Birmingham Bowl against USF, connecting from 26 and 33 yards … was also 4-of-4 on PAT attempts versus the Bulls as well … AWARDS AND HONORS … preseason candidate for the Lou Groza Award … also a preseason All-Big 12 selection by the media.
2016 SEASON (SOPHOMORE)
Once again served as Texas Tech’s primary field goal specialist … among the most accurate kickers in the country … ended the year as the top scorer on the team with 104 points … was 13-of-14 on field goal attempts and 65-of-70 on PATs … only miss came on a 40-yard attempt against Louisiana Tech … shared kickoff duties with Michael Barden … averaged 62.2 yards per kickoff over his 46 attempts on the year … recorded 17 touchbacks with just one kick out of bounds … IN NCAA RANKINGS: ended the year tied for fourth in field goal percentage (92.9) … trailed only Gary Wunderlich (Ole Miss), Younghoe Koo (Georgia Southern) and Cole Netten (Iowa State) … also ranked 32nd in scoring per game (8.7) and 60th in field goals per game (1.08) … IN BIG 12 RANKINGS: ranked second in the league for scoring, trailing only Oklahoma State’s Ben Grogan (9.0 points per game) … was also second for field goal percentage … his 1.08 field goals per game ranked sixth in the conference … was third in the conference for scoring in Big 12 games only (7.9 points per game) … averaged 1.11 field goals per game during league action, which was tied for fourth in the conference … ended Big 12 play a perfect 10-for-10 on field goal attempts, making him the lone kicker in the conference to not record a miss … IN THE TEXAS TECH RECORD BOOK: tied Keith Toogood’s 2003 record for most PAT attempts in a season (70) … snapped Ryan Bustin’s school record for field goal percentage after posting a 92.9 average … his 65 successful PATs ranked third all-time in single-season history, two shy of Alix Trilica’s record from 2007 … ended the year by successfully making each of his final 11 field goals which broke a long-standing school record for most-consecutive field goals made … original record was set by Bill Adams in 1979 and then matched by Scott Segrist in 1988 … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS … was a perfect 2-of-2 on field goal attempts in season opener against Stephen F. Austin (9/3) … drilled a 43-yarder versus the Lumberjacks that marked his longest of the season … matched his career high by going 9-of-9 in PAT attempts … his 15 points versus Stephen F. Austin marked the most by a Big 12 player on the season … was 7-of-8 on PAT attempts the following week at Arizona State (9/10) … finished 1-of-2 on field goal attempts and a perfect 8-of-8 on PATs against Louisiana Tech (9/17) … did not attempt a field goal in Big 12 opener versus Kansas (9/29) but did manage to finish 7-of-8 on PATs … drilled a successful 34-yarder at Kansas State (10/8) that tied the game midway through the third quarter … added a successful 42-yard attempt the following week against West Virginia (10/15) … was of his one of four successful attempts from over 40 yards … gave the Red Raiders a 13-10 lead late in the first quarter against Oklahoma (10/22) after a successful 37-yard field goal … possibly one of his biggest performances of his career came the following week at TCU (10/29) … made a successful 41-yarder midway through the second quarter before sending a 37-yard attempt through the uprights to seal a key road win in double overtime … marked the first game-winning field goal by a Red Raider kicker since Ryan Bustin nailed a 27-yarder to push Texas Tech past Minnesota in the 2012 Meineke Car Care Bowl … final successful field goal over 40 yards came against Texas (11/5) on a successful 42-yarder … connected on a 27-yarder at Oklahoma State (11/12) and a 31-yarder at Iowa State (11/19) … ended the season by going 2-for-2 on field goal attempts in victory over Baylor (11/25) … AWARDS AND HONORS … named to the All-Big 12 second team by ESPN … preseason candidate for the Lou Groza Award.

Texas Tech’s primary field goal specialist ... finished year 53-for-54 on extra point attempts and 14-for-16 on field goals ... used on kickoffs as well ... also served as kickoff specialist ... IN THE NCAA RANKINGS: ranked seventh nationally with an 87.5 field goal percentage and 61st in field goals per game (1.17) ... IN THE BIG 12 RANKINGS: led the Big 12 in field goal percentage ... tied for sixth in field goals per game and scoring ... SEASON HIGHLIGHTS ... made first career field goal with a 33 yard attempt against UTEP ... followed up with a successful 37-yarder against TCU ... was also a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points against the Horned Frogs ... finished 5-for-5 on extra points against Baylor ... was also Texas Tech’s primary kickoff specialist against Baylor, sending three of six attempts for touchbacks ... made third field goal of the season, a 24-yarder, to give Tech an early 3-0 lead against Iowa State ... saw most action of the year at Kansas, finishing 3-for-4 on field goal attempts ... was successful on 30, 24 and 25-yard attempts ... only miss came on a 48-yard attempt ... followed up by going 2-for-2 on attempts from 34 and 28 yards at Oklahoma ... booted a career-high 42-yard field goal in the first quarter against Oklahoma State, a game in which he also went 6-for-6 on extra points .... went 2-2 (34 yards, 27 yards) on field goals and 3-3 on extra points against West Virginia ... was 1-for-2 on field goal attempts against Kansas State, hitting a career-long 48-yarder while missing a 51-yard attempt .. did not miss the 51-yarder against Texas, connecting for a new career high, to go along with a 38-yarder and a perfect 6-6 night on extra points ...
