2018 SEASON (SENIOR)
Suffered a season-ending injury during preseason practices … did not play in 2018.
Appeared in all 13 games while making five starts during first season as a Red Raider … ranked fifth among defensive backs with 41 tackles, including one for a loss … led the team with an impressive eight pass breakups … posted at least two tackles in nine games on the year … part of a Tech defense that was among the top units in the country for takeaways … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS … earned the start at cornerback in his debut as a Red Raider versus Eastern Washington (9/2) … posted four tackles and a pass breakup in win over the Eagles … set a season high with six tackles two weeks later against Arizona State (9/16) … later matched that season high in the regular-season finale at Texas (11/24) … closed Big 12 play with three tackles in road win at Houston (9/23) … began Big 12 play with five tackles and a pass breakup against Oklahoma State (9/30) … recorded five tackles again a few weeks later versus Iowa State (10/21) … notched a pass breakup in that game against the Cyclones as well as in the Kansas game (10/7) … had four tackles at Oklahoma (10/28) and then two versus Kansas State (11/4) … recorded a season-high three pass breakups against TCU (11/18) … marked the most breakups by a Red Raider in a game that season … ended the year with four tackles and a pass breakup against USF in the Birmingham Bowl.
BUTLER COMMUNITY COLLEGE
As a sophomore, Morgan recorded 42 tackles, one tackle for loss, a blocked kick, eight pass breakups and three interceptions as the Grizzlies went 7-5 … during his freshman campaign, Morgan found the endzone twice, once on an interception return, and the other on a fumble return … as a freshman he recorded 56 tackles, three pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and six interceptions, including 160 interception return yards … the Grizzlies went 9-2 in 2015, including a 6-1 mark in conference play … earned first team All-KJCCC honors at cornerback … a four-star cornerback according to ESPN & Scout recruiting services … the No. 16 prospect on ESPN’s JC 50 … the No. 4 junior college corner in the nation according to ESPN … CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, Memphis and West Virginia, among others.
HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Greenwood High School in Greenwood, S.C. … played under coach Gene Cathcart … the Eagles advanced to the 4A state championship game in his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons … scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime to give the Eagles a 31-24 overtime win in the state title game against Rock Hill Northwestern his junior year ... Rock Hill Northwestern was quarterbacked by Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph in that game … was selected to the North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl following his senior season.
