2017 SEASON (JUNIOR)
Became Texas Tech’s primary back in short yardage and goal line situations in his first season as a Red Raider … appeared in 12 games overall while making one start … led the team with seven rushing touchdowns on just 62 attempts … was third on the team with 273 yards on the ground, averaging 4.4 yards per carry … IN BIG 12 RANKINGS: ended the year tied for seventh in the league with seven rushing touchdowns … SEASON HIGHLIGHTS … began his Red Raider career with 57 rushing yards on just six carries against Eastern Washington (9/2) … carried nine times two weeks later for 45 yards in a home win over Arizona State (9/16) … recorded his first touchdown of the season on a 3-yard run late in the second quarter against Houston (9/23) … touchdown gave the Red Raiders a 13-0 lead at that point … found the end zone again a week later on a 1-yard run against Oklahoma State (9/30) … touchdown tied the game at 34-34 early in the fourth quarter … put together his best game as a Red Raider at Kansas (10/7), notching season highs for attempts (11), rushing yards (93) and touchdowns (4) … marked the first time a Red Raider had four or more rushing touchdowns in a game since DeAndre Washington also had four against TCU in 2015 … three of those touchdowns came in the first half alone, giving Tech a commanding 35-10 lead at the break … marked first time a Red Raider had three rushing touchdowns in a half since Baron Batch similarly had three in the 2009 meeting against Kansas … first touchdown of the afternoon came on a 47-yard streak up the middle that marked his longest of the season ... performance earned him Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors … made his lone start of the season two weeks later against Iowa State (10/21) … carried eight times versus the Cyclones for 17 yards and a touchdown … had four carries at Oklahoma (10/28) and versus Baylor (11/11), resulting in 12 and 18 yards … received three carries for 13 yards against TCU (11/18) and then five attempts for 16 yards in regular-season finale at Texas (11/24) … saw action against USF in the Birmingham Bowl … AWARDS AND HONORS … named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Oct. 9 following his performance at Kansas.

Rushed for 1,250 yards and 12 touchdowns on 285 carries during his two junior college seasons … played his 2014 freshman year at Santa Rosa Junior College and then his 2016 sophomore season at Diablo Valley College … redshirted the 2015 campaign after transferring to Diablo Valley … was a threat out of the backfield those two seasons as well, combining for 208 yards and two touchdowns off 19 receptions through the air … concluded the 2016 season with a team-high 642 yards on the ground off 162 carries … found the endzone seven times while averaging 4.0 yards per carry … also led Santa Rosa with 608 rushing yards in 2014 after averaging 4.9 yards per carry … recorded five rushing touchdowns on his 123 carries during his one-year stay … three-star prospect according to Scout and 247Sports … rated the No. 5 junior college running back in the nation by 247Sports … CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: BYU, Iowa State, Kansas, UAB.
