HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Huntsville High School in the greater Houston area ... the Hornets rallied together for a memorable season by making a deep push into the 2023 Class 5A Division II playoffs after a 5-5 (4-2) regular season and being pegged to finish fourth in their district under head coach Rodney Southern … Huntsville advanced through three rounds of the playoffs to set up a regional final contest inside NRG Stadium versus eventual state champion Port Neches-Groves, falling 24-14, ending its season with an 8-6 record … was Huntsville’s first regional final appearance since 2018 … for the Huntsville senior class, the fourth round exit was the deepest run the team made in the playoffs over their four-year high school careers and best since a regional semifinal appearance their freshmen seasons having been knocked out in the first round as a junior and missing the playoffs the year before … Huntsville fought off injuries, having players like Collins step-up by shifting over to safety from playing far-side cornerback during the season … successfully did so, validated by being named a 2023 first team All-District safety … racked up 40 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, seven pass break ups and one interception as a senior … honored as the team’s defensive player of the week after wins versus Brenham (10/27) and Texas City (11/10) during senior season … was a back-to-back first team All-District selection having been named as a cornerback following his junior season ... produced 49 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, five pass breakups and one forced fumble that season … named to the Academic All-District team his junior season … registered 45 tackles, two interceptions and five pass breakups as a sophomore in 2021 … also member of the Huntsville track and field program ... posted times of 23.18 seconds in the 200 meters and 50.42 seconds in the 400 meters as a junior in the spring of 2023 … committed to Texas Tech on July 3, 3023 … considered a three-star recruit by both Rivals and 247Sports … graduated early to join the Red Raiders in the spring of 2024 … CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Baylor, Houston, Oregon State, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Tulane and Utah.
