2025 SEASON (JUNIOR)
- Immediately bolstered Texas Tech’s secondary in only his first year as a Red Raider as one of the top cornerbacks in the Big 12 … vital part of a Red Raider defense that recorded the largest year-by-year improvement for both scoring (-23.0 points) and total yards allowed per game (-203.2) by any FBS program since 2000 … was one of eight Red Raiders on the defensive side of the ball to start in all 14 games and one of 15 players on the team to do so.
- Ranked among the national leaders after picking off five passes to go along with 48 tackles (30 solo), including 4.0 that went for a loss … contributed six takeaways altogether with a fumble recovery added to his interception total … key part of a Red Raider defense that led the country in takeaways and drastically improved its passing yards per game allowed through the air … led the team for both interceptions and with eight pass breakups.
- Became the first Red Raider with five or more interceptions in a season since Douglas Coleman III picked off eight passes during the 2019 campaign … was the first Red Raider cornerback to do so since Adrian Frye in 2018 … became the lone Red Raider since 2005 to combine for 40 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and five interceptions all in the same season … one of only seven players in the FBS to record 40 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and five interceptions during the 2025 season and the lone one to do so from the Big 12 Conference.
- Posted at least one tackle in 13 of 14 games on the season with the lone exception being the opener versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff … recorded three or more stops in eight different contests overall … rose to the occasion in conference games, recording all of his tackles for loss against Big 12 foes and then three of his five interceptions … broke up seven passes against Big 12 opponents with the lone other coming in the Capital One Orange Bowl.
- Credited with 797 defensive snaps by Pro Football Focus, the most thus far in his collegiate career … publication awarded him an 82.5 overall grade, which included an 82.5 grade in coverage, an 81.1 grade as a tackler and a 79.1 grade in rush defense … listed with 69 total targets against him with only 35 of those resulting in a completion … did not give up a touchdown pass all season, per PFF, and the receptions against him resulted in only 94 yards after catch.
- AWARDS AND HONORS: a first team All-Big 12 selection by the conference coaches and the Associated Press … became the first Red Raider cornerback to earn first team All-Big 12 honors since Zech McPhearson in 2020 … garnered All-Big 12 honors from Pro Football Focus, which uses its grading system in determining postseason honors … was an All-Texas first team selection by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football … tabbed the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15 after picking off a pair of passes versus Oregon State … recognized for his potential ability at the pro level prior to the season as part of the Shrine Bowl 1,000 list.
- IN NCAA RANKINGS: his five interceptions on the season finished tied for seventh in the FBS … averaged 0.36 interceptions per game, which was tied for 26th in the country … key part of a Red Raider secondary that ranked 26th as a team for passing yards allowed per game (190.1).
- IN BIG 12 RANKINGS: shared the conference high with five interceptions alongside Jamel Johnson of TCU and Evan Johnson of BYU … his interceptions per game average was tied for third in the league.
- SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
- Made his first tackle as a Red Raiders as part of two stops in the second game of the year versus Kent State (9/6) … followed with one of his best performances of the year a week later against Oregon State (9/13), matching his career high with six tackles while picking off two passes … became the first Red Raider at the time to record two interceptions in the same game since Dadrion Taylor-Demerson did so versus TCU in 2023 … was the first Texas Tech cornerback to do so since Adrian Frye versus Lamar early in the 2018 campaign … named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts, marking the first conference weekly award of his career.
- Stepped in front of another pass a week later in the Big 12 opener at Utah (9/20) … finished with six tackles in the win versus the Utes, including one that went for a one-yard loss, to go along with his interception late in the second quarter … picked off Utah quarterback Devon Dampier with 2:11 remaining before halftime, setting up an eventual Stone Harrington 58-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead … later teamed with Jacob Rodriguez to stop a screen pass on third down midway through the third quarter to force a Utah punt deep in its own territory after a one-yard loss.
- Later matched his season high with six tackles a few weeks later in a home win over Kansas (10/11) … previously set a season high with two pass breakups a week prior at Houston (10/4) … closed the month of October with five tackles and a pass breakup at Arizona State (10/18) and with one stop in the shutout victory over Oklahoma State (10/25).
- Played a vital role in Texas Tech’s road win at Kansas State (11/1), recording five tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, an interception and a pass breakup … ended Kansas State’s first drive of the game with an interception on the first play, negating a Wildcat interception on the previous drive … fell on a Jacob Rodriguez forced fumble in the second quarter, giving the Red Raiders the ball in the red zone to set up an eventual Cameron Dickey touchdown run for a 9-7 lead at the time … had stopped Kansas State for a three-yard loss on the previous play before the fumble recovery … other tackle for loss stopped a fourth-down attempt by the Wildcats midway through the fourth quarter.
- Followed with two tackles and a pass breakup in the win over BYU (11/8) and then four stops against UCF (11/15) … made his final interception of the season in the regular-season finale at West Virginia to go along with three interceptions … interception came late in the second quarter after the Mountaineers had reached the red zone … had an earlier interception overturned following replay … previously combined with Jacob Rodriguez for a tackle for loss on West Virginia’s opening drive to force a 3rd-and-13 and eventual punt to kick off the shutout victory.
- Key contributor in Texas Tech’s second win over BYU (12/6) in the Edward Jones Big 12 Championship with five tackles and a quarterback hurries … had a tackle for loss in the win, which came on BYU’s opening drive of the second half and was followed by his lone quarterback hurry of the year … closed the season with two tackles and a pass breakup in the Capital One Orange Bowl versus Oregon (1/1).

- Spent his first two seasons of collegiate career at Mississippi State ... previously was recruited by and played for Texas Tech cornerbacks coach Darcel McBath as a true freshman with the Bulldogs in 2023.
- Saw significant action both seasons, playing in a total of 23 career games while making 15 starts ... collected 72 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble and one interception over two seasons for the Bulldogs ... led all MSU freshmen in tackles (24) in 2023 ... first career interception came at No. 5 Georgia in 2024 … credited with 973 defensive snaps by Pro Football Focus over his two seasons with the Bulldogs and an additional 156 snaps on special teams.

- Recorded his first career interception two weeks later at Georgia (10/12) to go along with four tackles … interception came on Georgia’s first drive of the game, giving the Bulldogs the ball near the red zone … Mississippi State responded with a field goal to take an early 3-0 lead … forced a fumble on Georgia’s next drive that rolled out of bounds … became the first Bulldog to record an interception and forced fumble in the same game since Collin Duncan did so on Nov. 7, 2020, against Vanderbilt … added a pass breakup in the loss for the fourth-consecutive game as well.
- Followed with four tackles in back-to-back games against Texas A&M (10/19) and Arkansas (10/26) … notched three tackles to go along with a season-high two pass breakups in the win over UMass (11/2) … combined for four pass breakups over the final four games with one against both Missouri (11/23) and at Ole Miss (11/29) as well.
- Matched his career high with six tackles in the Egg Bowl versus Ole Miss … previously had four tackles against Missouri and two stops earlier in the month at Tennessee (11/9) … one of his two stops versus the Vols went for a three-yard loss, marking his lone tackle for loss of the season and the second of his career … read a screen pass perfectly to drop Tennessee behind the line of scrimmage on third down midway through the third quarter.
- 2023 SEASON (FRESHMAN at MISSISSIPPI STATE): appeared in 11 games while making three starts as only a true freshman … recorded 24 tackles (13 solo) on the season to go along with one pass breakup … led all Mississippi State freshmen in tackles … earned his two starts late in SEC play at Auburn (10/28) and Texas A&M (11/11).
- In coverage for 130 snaps on the year, which ranked sixth among SEC freshmen according to Pro Football Focus … earned a rush defensive grade of 77.3, which ranked fifth among SEC freshmen by PFF … credited with making 253 defensive snaps on the season by the publication, while being targeted 15 times in the passing game with 10 being completions
