- Immediately impressed after joining the Red Raiders as a mid-year enrollee … bypassed a redshirt season, playing in 10 games overall as a reserve wide receiver and on special teams … member of Texas Tech’s kickoff return team during the season and saw time on kickoff coverage and punt returns as well.
- Caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown offensively … made two catches for 28 yards and a touchdown in his collegiate debut versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8/30) … touchdown came on a nine-yard strike from Will Hammond late in the third quarter to give the Red Raiders a commanding 61-0 lead … later added one catch for 14 yards in the regular-season finale at West Virginia (11/29).
- Member of Texas Tech’s travel squad regularly during Big 12 play … part of the scout team during the season as well.
HIGH SCHOOL
- Local product out of Frenship High School … among the most-prolific wide receivers in the state of Texas during his final three seasons for the Tigers.
- Helped push Frenship to the area round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs as a senior before narrowly falling to Southlake Carroll … ended his prep career with four touchdown catches against the highly-ranked Dragons, finishing with eight receptions for 167 yards overall.
- Named the Offensive MVP of District 2-6A as a senior after catching 70 passes for 1,488 yards and 29 touchdowns … was also a second team All-State honoree by the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) … totaled more than 4,000 yards to go along with 66 touchdowns over his three varsity seasons.
- Previously hauled in 94 passes for 1,658 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior, averaging an impressive 17.6 yards per catch … was a unanimous All-District 2-6A selection that season as well as a third team All-State honoree by the TSWA.
- Helped lead Frenship to a 9-3 record and an area round appearance in the Class 6A Division II playoffs both his junior and sophomore seasons … was one of the breakout starts across the South Plains as a sophomore after recording 64 catches for 1,177 yards and 14 touchdowns … garnered second team All-District 2-6A accolades that season.
- Member of Frenship’s basketball, baseball and track programs during prep career.
- Consensus three-star prospect by the likes of On3, 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals … ranked as high as No. 61 nationally among wide receivers by On3 … listed as a top-100 recruit in Texas by three different publications - On3 (No. 61), 247Sports (No. 77) and ESPN (No. 93) … CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Arizona, Baylor and Texas State.

- Leyton Stone … son of Tom and Lindsey Stone … oldest of three siblings with a younger brother, Landry, and sister, Lily … born in Atlanta, Georgia … moved to Lubbock at only seven months of age after his father was named Texas Tech’s head soccer coach … father is now the all-time winningest head coach in the history of the Texas Tech soccer program.
- Both parents were collegiate soccer student-athletes with his father at Duke and his mother at the University of Texas … father was a three-time All-ACC selection and set the Duke records for most career NCAA Tournament goals and game-winning goals in a season … father scored the game-winning goal for Duke in the 1986 National Championship match.
- Wears No. 17 with the Red Raiders, the same jersey number both his parents had during their respective collegiate careers.
