- Redshirt season … joined the Red Raider football program as a walk-on following the season … was a freshman student on campus during 2025 football season.
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended Stephenville High School in Stephenville, Texas … spent his senior season at Stephenville after previously attending Comanche High School roughly 35 miles away … one of the most-prolific rushers in the state throughout his prep career with more than 5,600 career rushing yards over four varsity seasons.
- Carried 201 times for 1,659 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior, leading Stephenville to a 12-2 record and a spot in the Class 4A Division I regional final … earned All-District 4-4A honors that season and a second team All-State selection by the Padilla Poll.
- Put together two strong seasons for Comanche, carrying 259 times for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns as only a sophomore to earn District 5-3A Division II MVP honors … pushed the Indians to a 10-2 record that season and district title that season before falling in the area round of the playoffs.
- Followed with 187 carries for 1,251 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior for a Comanche program that was 8-5 overall but advanced to the regional semifinals of the Class 3A Division II playoffs … was a first team All-District 5-3A Division II selection that season and an honorable mention All-State honoree by the Texas Sports Writers Association … garnered second team All-State accolades by the Padilla Poll.

- Sawyer Wilkerson... born in Abilene, Texas but calls Stephenville his hometown.
- His parents are Lance and Jan Wilkerson.
- Has three siblings in Brooke, Caroline and Logan.
- His great uncle Russell Durham threw the javelin for the Texas Tech track & field team and still holds the No. 4 mark in Tech history at 240’-8” (73.36m) from the SWC Championships in 1968.
