PERSONAL
- Turned into one of Texas Tech’s most-dynamic players as a junior after finding a role as a tight end as well as a deep snapper … one of only a handful of players in the country to have an offensive position and be a key specialist as well … ultimately led to him appearing in all 14 games in various roles.
- Served as Texas Tech’s deep snapper on punt coverage with no failed attempts … credited with 97 offensive snaps by Pro Football Focus with 68 of those coming on running plays … utilized on heavy sets in the red zone and in short-yardage situations for a second-straight season due to his run-blocking ability.
2024 SEASON (REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE)
- Appeared in 12 games as either a reserve tight end or on special teams during his first season as a Red Raider … missed only the home date versus Cincinnati (9/28) … often one of the shield protectors on Texas Tech’s punt unit … credited with one tackle on special teams, which came in the win over North Texas (9/14) … saw action also on kickoff returns late in the season … utilized in heavy sets late in the season as a third tight end on running downs.
PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH
- Joined the Red Raiders following two seasons at the University of Oklahoma … arrived at Texas Tech with three seasons of eligibility remaining … played in a total of 13 games as a Sooner either on special teams or as a reserve tight end.
- 2023 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): redshirted the 2023 season after playing in only three of the first four games of the season … saw action against Arkansas State (9/2), Tulsa (9/16) and Cincinnati (9/23).
- 2022 SEASON (FRESHMAN): played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2022 … missed only three games that season late in the year against Baylor (11/5), Texas Tech (11/26) and versus Florida State in the Cheez-It Bowl (12/29).
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended Aledo High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex … played for one of the top Class 5A programs in the state of Texas … helped push Aledo to the Class 5A Division-II state title his junior season … the Bearcats returned to the regional semifinal round his senior year before narrowly falling to eventual state champion South Oak Cliff.
- An All-District 5-5A first-team selection as a senior after catching 30 passes for 452 yards and seven touchdowns … also garnered first team All-State honors by the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA).
- Earned first team All-District accolades as a junior as well after catching 28 passes for 453 yards and five touchdowns … recognized as an honorable mention All-State honoree that season by the TSWA … was a long snapper for Aledo in addition to his role as an All-State tight end.
- Considered a four-star prospect by Rivals and ESPN and a three-star recruit by both 247Sports and On3 … ranked as the nation’s No. 12 tight end by Rivals and at No. 13 by ESPN … was a Texas top-100 prospect by both publications as well … chose Oklahoma over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Texas and others.

- Jason Llewellyn (loo-ELL-in) ... born in Aledo, Texas ... son of Paul and Cynthia Llewellyn ... has one sibling, an older brother – John.
- His father Paul was a linebacker at TCU and played five seasons of minor league baseball within the Atlanta Braves organization.
