PERSONAL
- Entered the defensive line rotation as a redshirt freshman … appeared in all 13 games with two starts at Washington State and in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl versus Arkansas … was the only interior defensive lineman to play in all 13 games.
- Finished with 23 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and 2.0 sacks, on the season … led all interior defensive linemen in tackles as a consistent presence in the two-deep … ranked tied for third on the team in tackles for loss, trailing only Jacob Rodriguez (10.5) and A.J. McCarty (6.5) … added two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup as well.
- Recorded at least one tackle in 11 of 13 games overall with a season high of four against both North Texas (9/14) and Arkansas (12/27) … notched at least two stops in seven different games.
- Credited with 343 defensive snaps by Pro Football Focus, which was third in the interior defensive line room … publication awarded him with a 62.7 overall grade after totaling seven total pressures on the season (2.0 sacks, quarterback hit and four hurries) … productive with 17 defensive “stop” tackles, according to PFF, which resulted in a negative play for the offense … led the defensive line and ranked fourth on the team for total “stop” tackles.
- Recorded one tackle in the season opener versus Abilene Christian (8/31), which went for a two-yard loss … the tackle for loss came at a pivotal time for the Red Raiders, halting ACU on a 4th-and-1 attempt to give the Red Raiders the ball back near midfield … marked the first tackle for loss of his career at the time.
- Followed with three tackles at Washington State (9/7), which surpassed his entire career total at the time … performance coincided with his first career start … credited with 33 defensive snaps by PFF, his third-highest total on the season … set a new career high with four tackles in the rout over North Texas (9/14) a week later … received a 74.7 overall grade in the win, which was his highest of the season.
- Opened Big 12 play with a tackle in the win over Arizona State (9/21) … followed with two tackles in the win over Cincinnati (9/28), including a two-yard sack that marked the first of his career … sack came on 1st-and-goal for the Bearcats at the Red Raider 7-yard line, which ultimately forced Cincinnati into a 26-yard field goal … recorded one tackle in the win at Arizona (10/5) to go along with his first of two quarterback hurries on the season.
- Notched two stops against Baylor (10/19), his fourth multi-tackle performance of the season at that point … totaled three tackles in the top 10 road win at Iowa State (11/2), including one for a one-yard loss that stuffed the Cyclones on 3rd-and-10 in the fourth quarter … wrapped the regular season with two tackles against West Virginia (11/30), including his second sack of the season, which went for a nine-yard loss … sack came on 3rd-and-8 to force a punt by the Mountaineers near midfield.
- Matched his career high with four tackles in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl against Arkansas (12/27) to go along with a quarterback hurry and his lone pass breakup on the season … had one tackle go for a four-yard loss on first down, which led to an Arkansas 3-and-out midway through the second quarter.
2023 SEASON (FRESHMAN)
- Redshirt season … appeared in three games overall with two being during Big 12 play and the other in the Independence Bowl win over Cal (12/16).
- Registered one tackle in limited action, which came in his collegiate debut against Houston (9/30) … also saw action in the regular-season finale at Texas (11/24).
- Scout team member during majority of the season.
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended Manor High School in his hometown of Manor, Texas, outside of Austin … four-year varsity letterwinner between his time at Manor as well as Del Valle High School during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
- Selected to the All-District teams in each of his four seasons … was a unanimous first team All-District 25-6A selection as a senior after pushing Manor to a 7-4 record and a Class 6A playoff appearance … garnered District 11-5A Defensive Newcomer of the Year honors as a junior in 2021 … helped push Manor to an appearance in the Class 5A Division I area round that season.
- Combined for 111 tackles, including 37.0 tackles for loss and eight sacks during his two seasons at Manor alone … also had six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries during that span with one being returned for a touchdown.
- Collected second team All-District 25-6A accolades at Del Valle High School as a freshman in 2019 and first team honors as a sophomore … credited with 51 tackles as a sophomore, including 10.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks.
- Member of the school’s varsity powerlifting and track and field programs during prep career.
- Consensus three-star recruit by the likes of 247Sports, Rivals, ESPN and ON3.com … listed as the No. 44 defensive tackle in the country by Rivals and at No. 45 according to ESPN.
- CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Minnesota, SMU, TCU, UTSA and Washington State.

- Jayden Jeffrey Cofield … son of Kevin and Angelia Cofield … has twin younger siblings, Jaila and Jaxson.
