PERSONAL
- Saw a significant increase in playing time as a redshirt freshman, appearing in 12 of 14 games either as a reserve safety or on special teams … missed only the final two games of the season in the Edward Jones Big 12 Championship and College Football Playoff.
- Recorded 11 tackles on the season (5 solo), including a shared stop for a loss, to go with three pass breakups … had at least one tackle in six different games with multiple stops in three of those outings … all three of his pass breakups came during Big 12 play, meanwhile.
- Best performance of the season came via four tackles and a pass breakup in the shutout win over Oklahoma State (10/25) … previously started the season with two tackles in the rout over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8/30) and then added two stops in his final appearance of the year in the regular-season finale at West Virginia (11/29) … one of his two tackles versus the Mountaineers went for a one-yard loss midway through the fourth quarter … also had his final pass breakup of the season in the shutout win.
- Other pass breakup on the season came on the final play of the game against Kansas (10/11) … had one tackle versus the Jayhawks as well as against Oregon State (9/13) and UCF (11/15).
- Credited with 113 defensive snaps by Pro Football Focus, which awarded him a 71.5 overall grade … rating included a 74.8 grade in coverage … saw time on special teams as well with 55 total snaps between the punt, kickoff and punt return units.
2024 SEASON (FRESHMAN)
- Redshirt season … appeared in two games late in the season at Oklahoma State (11/23) and against Arkansas (12/27) in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl … scout team member.
- Made a tackle in each game as part of Texas Tech’s punt unit … also saw time on punt returns at Oklahoma State.
HIGH SCHOOL
- Attended his hometown Pflugerville Weiss High School in the Austin area … one of the highest-rated defensive backs to sign with the Red Raiders in recent memory.
- Helped lead Weiss to a 9-2 record his senior season and a playoff appearance after totaling 88 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles … described as a ball-hawk with nine interceptions his senior season alone, including one returned for a touchdown, to go with 10 pass breakups … was the state’s leader in interceptions midway through the season … unanimous All-District 12-6A selection his senior season.
- Previously a second team All-District honoree as a junior in 2022 after recording 85 tackles, a tackle for loss, five interceptions and nine pass breakups.
- Four-year varsity letterwinner, seeing time as a wide receiver as a freshman before moving to the secondary a year later … caught four passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns in his limited time on varsity as a freshman.
- Followed with a breakout season his sophomore year with 58 tackles, one tackle for loss, five interceptions and a forced fumble … combined for 220 tackles, 17 interceptions and 21 pass breakups over his prep career.
- Dual-sport athlete that also competed for the Weiss track and field program … competed in the Class 6A regional meet in both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles his final two years … advanced to the regional meet also in the 4x200-meter relay as well as the long jump and triple jump as a sophomore as well.
- Received his first collegiate offer by the Texas Tech staff … considered a four-star prospect by Rivals, 247Sports and On3 and a three-star recruit by ESPN … top-100 recruit by On3, coming in at No. 82 overall and No. 7 among safeties nationally … was a top-50 recruit in the state of Texas by On3, 247Sports and Rivals as well … listed as high as No. 17 in Texas by On3 followed by No. 37 by Rivals and No. 42 by 247Sports … was No. 20 among safeties nationally by Rivals and No. 26 overall by 247Sports … part of the Rivals 300 at No. 227 overall among recruits in the 2024 class … listed as the 16th-highest rated recruit to sign with Texas Tech since 247Sports launched in 2000.
- CHOSE TEXAS TECH OVER: Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, California, Colorado, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Nebraska, SMU and TCU, among others.
PERSONAL
- Cai Peyton Morgan … prefers to use Peyton as first name … born in Austin, Texas … calls Round Rock, Texas home … parents are Brett Morgan and Chaka Price-Morgan … has three siblings, Chase, Paige and Price.
- His mother previously played basketball collegiately at Murray State, while his father was a wide receiver at Spokane Falls College … joined the Red Raider football program alongside his older brother, Price, in 2024 ... Price Morgan transferred to Incarnate Word in San Antonio following the 2025 season.
- Enjoys playing sand volleyball and playing video games when not on the football field.
